I need a barrel pin pressed out it's a very stubborn Romy. I've let it soak in PB blaster for 2 days and hit it with a air hammer then punch and very large hammer will not budge. Any builder's in Atlanta with a press? Willing to mail it also. |

If you mushroomed one side, you’re going to have to press it out from the other side. As you found, you need a press. You might try a local machine shop if nothing else. Harbor Freight has cheap presses. I’ve been using one of theirs since I started assembling AKs in the late ‘90’s. It’s used for a bunch of other automotive projects too. You might want to pick up a new pin as well. |

| get a powder activated nail driver... get a drill rod cut it so it fits into the nail driver flush... place against pin and trigger it... it will punch the pin out about 1/4" after that it will tap our easily once upon a time 20 years ago I had several build videos on AK Files this was one technique I developed for people who did not have access to a 125 ton press like I did... it works REALLY well and is totally safe as the pin cannot escape as long as ya trigger with it tight against the trunion it will push upwards so hold tight..... I used it frequently to break lose stubborn pins as its faster than setting up the press etc... |
