Back when Century was building some real trashcan guns, this is where their bad reputation started. This is a century built “Maadi” using a demilled MAK90 kit. These were mix match guns that came out during the ban in the 90’s. I haven't seen one in decades. Look at that optic mount  check out the black painted receiver and fiberforce stock. My buddies grandfather had one. We thought it was a mak90 for years but he corrected us about 30 years ago and said it was a Masdi when we asked did he still have it. Edit For 750 I might of gotten it, don't know if they were junk or quality of a regular maadi but I always wondered why they made a maadi like that. |

I was looking into getting all the stuff from K-var to turn my KP build into a 104 clone. Decided to just get a PSA GF5 barreled receiver and build my own. KP is now a 103 clone with ODG furniture, and the GF5 is awaiting the sign-off to attach a triangle. I put Russian AKM furniture on it with some paki tape on the PG (got one of the ones that has the hammer and sickle on the ferrule that were out recently) so it's my KP now. (plus i have another AK and that's always a win) |

I bought a MISR90 "parts kit" from one of those places on Gunbroker that sells de-mil'd police confiscated firearms, with the thought I could use the Chicom parts for another project I was working on. That's about all these are worth, IMHO. Typical "Century monkeys putting together AKs" quality. |

I would be interested in hearing exactly how Century fitted chinese width trunnions into AKM width receivers- shims, or just rivet away, close enough ? Honestly I never knew anything about MISR guns, always thought they were actual Egyptian built…so I learned something. |

I had a MISR back in the 90's bought it thinking it was actually egyptian. IIRC I paid like $325 OTD for it new. Yeah fit and finish was garbage, accuracy, wasn't terrible. Had a habbit of occasionally not ejecting brass fully and keeping them in the receiver. after a few mags sometimes would jam up pop the top cover and see a couple spent brass sitting on the fcg. If it weren't for the not always spitting out the brass it wouldn't of been that terrible, I think I put like 2 cases of Wolf through it then sold it. |

Probably not enough to matter. "Send it" was probably the option chosen. |

The only common 1.2mm AK receivers that I recall were OOW’s original design, where they spot heat treated the pin holes, some of the old style 80% shells were 1.2mm, and the newer 80% chinese style flats that AK Builder has currently are 1.2mm as well, I think likely just for easier bending- (originally they were making those style flats at 1.5mm). I sold a lot of the OOW and 80% back in the days when AK kits were dirt cheap. And yeah “send it” likely was correct, I know of plenty of similar builds, people even machined down milled receiver stubs til they fit AKM type receivers and made them work pretty easily. I always recommended people shim them if doing chinese trunnions in a 1mm AKM shell, but I know some did not bother. Just wondered what was done for a “professional” model build from CAI. Like I said, I always thought these were full Egyptian made. As always with Century- imported by them is good, built by them….maybe not so much… |
