Recovered 2 more rusty and pitted AK mags last week here in Baghdad and dropped them in the solvent tank. Just took them apart and scrubbed them with wire brushes. Back into tank for another week. Notice the two followers have a high back to catch bolt on empty mag. Attached File Attached File |

| Well Zastava had supplied Iraq with the machinery to build their AKs, which is why the Tabuks have the yugo style, 3-hole handguards. I don’t know if that included magazines and followers. But it stands to reason they made mags like the yugo, if not direct copies. |

| Is Evapo-Rust or any of the European equivalent brands available there? That stuff works pretty well. Just drop it into the bucket and lift it out in a week or so and the rust should be gone. |

| You can order a 3-D printer off Amazon, and print followers and floorplates for your empty bodies. You'd just need springs, and if you can't get springs, you could print mandrels to wrap your own. |

I can't recall any other European AK manufacturer making BHO magazines. We captured a bunch of brand new plastic wrapped Tabuks in a warehouse around Najaf in 05, and I was very surprised by the quality and finish of those locally produced rifles. Wish we could have gotten them back. We put in the paperwork to transport them to the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby, but CENTCOM quashed that plan with a resounding "NO." The Scout platoon used my two "found on FOB" thermites to burn all the captured weapons up before we rotated out. |
