So, I home built a Galil a long time ago, the metal mags don’t want to work reliably, but the plastic 35 rounders run 100% and I have 9 of them. It’s 5.56, and is really fun to shoot. The question is do I bother trying to fix it for metal mags or just keep using it like I have been? |

I’m guessing I screwed up the mag catch/trigger guard somehow. The metal ones lock in but won’t strip from one side of the Mag, the plastic ones work fine. |

Do metal mags have vertical movement /play at the rear when locked in? The plastic mags likely present the rounds a little higher. You can shave the selector stop plate down a bit or weld up the mag catch top or mag lug if you have room to raise the rear of the mag (ie it doesnt top out against tue receiver or inner rails. Is it a ATI barreled receiver that you built on? Habe seen this with a home build on an ATI barreled receiver, and the gas port was way large too. Sven Manticore Arms |

| No play in the mags, IIRC its an Ohio ordnance works received, probably the first ones made back in 2005/2006 or so, so the dimensions might be off a tad, I fitted the barrel and then drilled the FSB and gas hole myself. Shoots great with the exception of the metal mags. |
