I knew it would be expensive, but at $350, I will wait for the next 20-30% off sale:

https://www.primaryarms.com/geissele-automatics-2-stage-ak-trigger

I am not sure what made them use Orange for the cassette. A dark blue, green or black would have been better. It's nice they used their lightening bow though. I just want a 4 lb two stage trigger. Most "gucci" AK triggers I have tried are too light. I want this trigger for my SAM-5. It currently has a LBE trigger tuned by Rifle Dynamics. It's OK, but not great. Certainly not as nice as the ALG trigger on my LAV Polish AKM kit build I installed myself with a gunsmith looking over me. I swear though they changed the springs on the ALG between 2021 and the past couple of years. I never could get it to run as well on my SAM-5.

The best AK trigger I own is still the good old Gordon technologies trigger I had Chris Butler (AK-USA) install on my Romanian SAR-2 way back in 2003. There is some slack for safety purposes, a nice pull and wall, good reset without any slap. A simple good quality single stage. None of that 2-3 lb trigger pull crap on a com bloc AK.

I want to build another AK, but then I won't have time to shoot it

Oh, and I forgot to add, I am still waiting for someone, even say CMC who also makes cassette triggers, to make one that uses steel similar in hardness to the Yugo (Zastava) triggers. I'm sure Geissele is using something like S7 tool steel for these two stage triggers. It will mushroom the crap out of the Zastava carriers. My stock double hook trigger is not bad, but it had obvious burrs on various surfaces I wound up gently filing down. It definitely helped with the creep, along with generous amounts of Geissele Go-Juice.

For that price I’ll stick with FIME triggers. They’re going to have to come down by about $100 before I consider one.

If they’re going to charge that much it should at least come with their version of an enhanced safety.

The first time I shot an ALG trigger on a guy's SLR-105 at the range, I felt it was borderline unsafe.

Almost no pressure required and no warning before it broke.

I love my ALG AK-T. Its about perfect, maybe even a little on the heavy side. Short, crisp pull and proper weight. Wish the shape was a bit more curved.

I'm not ham fisted and can keep my booger hook off the trigger so I don't have any issues with it.

I have a Tapco G2 that wore in about the same pull weight as the AKT, just longer travel. That one I have more issues with taking up sick and preloading to the wall than the AKT. Not quite as noticable of a wall.

Agree, and it all depends on the model of AK and how it is installed. I always use the heavier springs. The one I have on my Childers receiver, Polish AKM kit, is tuned just right. It has just the right amount of take up before the hammer drops. It's far closer to a lighter version of a mil spec AR trigger, only smoother.

I honestly believe a 4 lb two stage trigger is the minimum I would ever use on any AR or any semi-auto rifle, unless it's a precision rig. Even my Super Duty 11.5" with its "lightening bow" two stage SSA-X something trigger still pulls 4 lbs on a gauge.

Ouch- $$$.  Think I will stick to basic single stage at that price.  Half the cost of some AK’s…

Not really a fan of two stage triggers anyhow in AR’s, a decently smooth single stage is good enough for me typically.  AK’s might be a better use case since there is a lot more travel distance typically, but not at that price.

I love my ALG triggers besides the upgraded one I have in my beryl. It seems like it's too light and I think I'm going to put that one in something else and see how it is.

As for the 2 stage I'm interested if I'd like that in an AK? I love the SSA and other Giessele 2 stages but I have a single stage Giessele in a 6920 and it's weird to me and I'm wondering if that would be the case in the opposite situation. I do have single stage AR triggers but I have to get use to the Giessele version. It is a nice trigger just weird.

I'll probably grab one on sale one day but if I'm spending hundreds on a trigger I'm checking in to the FRT game.

Well, I have it on my buy list this Thanksgiving during Black Friday specials. It will go into my SAM-5.

Geissele says it is coated in the same manner as their bolt carriers, hence the price:

I have been pleased with my FIME enhanced and LBE triggers.  I don’t think there’s a market at all for a $300+ AK trigger.  When it costs a third to a half of the gun, you’ve lost the plot.

I agree but there is a market out there.

If people are going as far as putting lpvo's and lasers on them at the point why not. Financially it doesn't make any sense to trick out an AK but people still do.

I'd be curious to try one but it's on the bottom of the list. Maybe on a holiday sale and I'm doing really good at work one day. Glad Giessele is making these at least.

Considering that a Geissele large pin Colt trigger is over $250, Super SCAR > 220 on sale, $250 is acceptable only if it acts and performs like a two stage SSA or SuperSCAR trigger.

I will install this into my Arsenal SAM-5 and see what happens. It says it is meant for spec 7.62 guns, but my SAM-5 is not much different internally than the SAM-7 (minus bolt, barrel obviously).

I don’t either. A Zastava M90 or a 5.45 gun? Maybe an issue. The SAM-5 is essentially a milled 7.62x39 AK chambered in 5.56. The other three triggers I have tried all worked without any issues (ALG, LBE, BAD EKG). I have not tried a cassette trigger in it yet.

I really wish Geissele would give us a cheap double hook ALG trigger made with softer steel (at least on the hammer) for the Zastava. They would sell a few thousand for certain.

Mine was delivered this morning. Package and G website say that it's designed for 7.62x39 AK platform but I talked to G and they said 5.45 and 5.56 is okay as long as the receiver is AKM pattern.

Installed it in my SLR104UR. Dry fired 50 times. Here are my thoughts:

Quality is as expected from G; 10/10.

Installation is super easy. This is a true drop in. Taking the old ALG out was the hardest part lol.

The second stage break is very nice crisp just like an AR SSA-E.

Here are the bads.. The first stage pull is very light and mushy and so is the reset

Imo at $350 msrp plus tax and shipping this is definitely a no buy for me because of the light and mushy first stage and reset. At $250 plus tax and shipping when on sale I still don't think it's worth it. If G make the first stage pull 200% heavier and no mush but more springy like an AR SSA-E then I think we have a winner and at $250+ it's definitely a buy for me. I won't buy another in its current form.

Also G if you're reading this make the housing dark olive drab or DDC anodized; what were y'all thinking going with orange lol??

We always appreciate the feedback, good, bad, or indifferent. It gives us ways to improve and give shooters the best possible product at the end of the day. We have seen a few reviews on the trigger so far, and have all made sure they get to our project teams!

The orange was a creative design element, but understand how through the receiver's trigger pocket you may want a more subtle color and can appreciate that. We hope you have the opportunity to get it out to the range soon and look forward to more feedback about your live-fire experience.

Got mine installed yesterday, and dry fired it about the same amount, the first stage felt very mushy, so much so its hard to tell where the wall for it is at, the 2nd stage was a clean break but I wouldn't say its SSA-E crisp. I do agree with you on that price point being a definite no for what it is. I got it on sale for about $250 and as of right now I wouldn't pay that again, so it would be a hell no at $350.

No hard feelings; I have your triggers in all my AR and I have like 100+ AR . There wouldn't be any improvements if people don't tell y'all the bads right!?

I think y'all can easily fix this mushy first stage issue by making Part #7 (from the installation diagram) *AK 2 Stage Helper Spring* 200%-250% stronger.

What AK did you put it in? I can definitely tell the first stage and where the wall is at on mine also there's some creep on the reset as well; but yes both the first stage and reset are definitely mushy . My second stage break feels just as crisp as the SSA-Es on my AR that have them.

I have a Saiga 5.45 I converted into an AK-105 that I put it into. It's hard to explain, but I do feel the wall on the first stage its just that the take up is so mushy you can pull right through it without realizing you are at the wall. But when you find it, you can definitively feel it. Prior to that I had an ALG trigger in there that did take some trigger polishing and a couple of hundred rounds to sort, it was having trouble resetting sometimes. Which I have never had to do on any other rifle so it might be unique to my Saiga, but couldn't imagine that being the case with a drop in though.

The ALG Enhanced Trigger with the extra spring installed feels closer IMO opinion to an SSA-E than this Geissele Trigger. I am not going to give my final judgement on the Geissele until I take it out for some actual live firing and a few hundred rounds. Maybe it just takes some getting used to, and a slight break in maybe. But just dry firing it felt kind of disappointing with that first stage being very mushy upon my initial impression. I was kind of hoping that maybe I got a bad one, but as soon as I read your take on the first stage it was 110% on point with how I would describe it.

Also I do know that it was intended for use in 7.62x39 AK's but its literally the same trigger in a 5.45 so I don't know exactly what that is about, maybe Geissele or someone with more knowledge than me could explain.

Someone should go actual fire instead of dry fire and report back.  Preferably have some before and after targets to verify any gains made for the price paid.

As I said before, I’ll never buy one and I don’t think there will be any noticeable gains made in accuracy for the price.  Prove me wrong.

20+ years of shooting professionally and personally I don't see how live fire can solve the mushy first stage lmao.

And I didn't buy this to improve accuracy, I know the limits of the AK it ain't a precision rifle, I bought it because I want the trigger feel I get with SSA-E on my AR for my AK.

I installed the trigger into my Arsenal SAM-5 last night. It seems to be working when dry firing. Took a little effort to wiggle it in place, and you need to install the trigger pin first before the hammer pin. Doing the trigger pin before the hammer pin allowed me to line up the holes perfectly.

Geissele did not give an allen wrench for the set screws, but fortunately I have a small metric set that worked. Bear in mind, there are little metal protrusions at the base of the cassette meant to go through the receiver hole where the trigger sits. This helps stabilize it. I still installed my pin retaining plate to prevent any wobble. If I am ambitious, I could see myself using a small punch to indent the bottom of my milled receiver for the set screws to prevent any wobble. I did not loctite the screws yet, since I want to test it first.

1. The first and second stages seem acceptable to me. Not quite SSA crisp but close. Think more Larue MBT, which is a good trigger in my book. I will use my trigger weight gauge later. If I had to guess, it is 3-3.5 lbs.

2. If anything is soft and mushy, it is the trigger reset. Seems not as brisk or fast as a standard SSA. I need to shoot the rifle this weekend before giving a final verdict.

I will try to head to the range this weekend. Thanks

I got several ALG triggers when they first released them for the AK platform.

The slap and incredibly vague break point were shocking.  So much so that I was blocked from their social media for asking why there was so much slap involved on multiple (very different) rifles when following their directions to the letter.

Apparently they "updated" them about 8-12 months later (never mentioning that the first iteration was in any way flawed lolol), but I never felt the need to spend any more money on that product line.

I do like the brownells G2S/G2S-E line for ARs, but for an AK a red star is exceptional and I've never wanted for more.

I like the orange, it kinda gives Bakelite vibes. The trigger is out of my price range for any of my classic style AKs, they’re already set up how I’m used to them. For a different/modern build I may go with one of these though.
Night ain’t scary when you don’t fear death. And you can’t suffocate when you don’t need breath. I’m chilling so hard the fire can’t fade me. Cause I’m all good with the one who made me.

And I didn't buy this to improve accuracy, I know the limits of the AK it ain't a precision rifle, I bought it because I want the trigger feel I get with SSA-E on my AR for my AK.

I’m merely expressing my opinion based upon having my finger on a trigger for over forty years and, particularly, assembling AKs since the late ‘90’s.  Nothing more, nothing less.  I can attest to dry firing not being the equivalent of live fire, especially in the age of the FRT.
To each their own.  Good day, sir.

Well I got called into work today. It’s already dark out. I’ll have to try later this week or next weekend. Sorry.

I put ~180 rounds through my SAM-5 with the Geissele two stage AK trigger today. No malfunctions. Thoughts:

1. 1st stage at first felt a little “mushy” when shooting but 2nd stage is solid

2. This trigger is plenty fast

3. Reset is soft and “mushy”, not as abrupt and to the point as a normal well tuned AK trigger or a typical Geissele trigger.

Maybe needs different springs or is it a consequence of using a cassette design? I shot it along side my SCAR 16 which had a Geissele super scar trigger, the super scar was definitely better.

I will try to take it out again the next couple of weekends and put more magazines through it. It may "stiffen" up some. I think it is better than the LBE trigger I had Rifle Dynamics put into my SAM-5, but it is not up to Geissele's other triggers such as the Super SCAR. To be frank, one of my favorite AK variant triggers is just the standard Gen 1 Galil ACE trigger. I actually think that is a good trigger for a Galil with a red dot on top. Heavy yes, but good reset, positive feeling, etc. I actually don't like excessively light AK triggers; I feel they are dangerous for anything other than competition.

Like I said above in post #36, G can easily fix this issue with a much stronger helper spring (Part #7 in the diagram below).

You can see that the helper spring is putting pressure on the trigger via the main spring in the picture below. If that pressure is increased like 250% I'm pretty sure the reset will be much nicer/noticeable and the first stage pull will be springy and won't be mushy

Agree. Thank you for the post. Will await Geissele’s comments.
