Quoted: This is legit...that front iron though...don't know Jack... View Quote Quoted: Agreed. I assume those can be swapped out View Quote I'd guess some Magpul MBUS Pros or whatever would fit and work pretty well. Curious about the forend. I assume the handguard retainer has to be removed. I do like the long continuous rail. Do we know anything about that dust cover? Will it retain zero? |
|
I like it. I wonder does the handguard mount to a block that the dust cover pivots on also?

Most of his stuff is "aesthetically challenged"! Quoted: I'd guess some Magpul MBUS Pros or whatever would fit and work pretty well. Curious about the forend. I'd like to know how he retains the dust cover as well. He really is full of surprises. Quoted: I like it. I wonder does the handguard mount to a block that the dust cover pivots on also? It looks like the gas tube is similar to the AK12, just a continuous tube without handguard retainer cutout or upper HG cutout and the HG itself is held on to the base of the lower and the upper portion via screws. If that makes sense. Im curious as well! |

it will be 3k minimum, so start saving if you want it, and it will be made in extremely limited quantities, which means it will be 4k on the secondary market.
I have wanted one of his 1st gen guns forever and they're still over 2k when you can find them. These are neat, besides the site, yuck, and you will be lucky to actually get one, that's my prediction. Krebs isn't setup to mass produce anything. Hell I'd love to just get one of their angled grips again that they used to make. |

I want one of these in 5.45, and will probably buy one if I am still able. But I live in Washington so.... Im basically f*c*ed. |

Quoted: Did he say what parts these are built on? Where is Krebs sourcing the trunnion, etc? View Quote Naw, the guy from classic thought the left handed safety was inspired by the galil ace design. Krebs just calmly said it wasn't. Absolute highlight of the video. The internals are likely WBP. Gas tube is his. FSB is his. Dust cover is TWS. Safety is his. Handguard is his. Muzzle brake is his. Barrel is Green Mountain. Stock is Sig. Adapter is his. Gas regulator is his design. Sights are midwest industries... I would probably use different sights if I picked one up though. They seem high. |

I wonder if they pic rail allows for stocks to be mounted lower and then utilize lower iron sights |

Quoted: What about the rear trunnion? I wonder if they pic rail allows for stocks to be mounted lower and then utilize lower iron sights View Quote I have no information about that. Most of what I expect is speculation anyway. Who knows how he builds the rear. It would be pretty cool if he released one with a 100 pattern side folder and removes the sights. I don't care about a higher check position. |

If it's using a SIG stock, I'd assume it has room to adjust up or down.

Quoted: If it's using a SIG stock, I'd assume it has room to adjust up or down. View Quote a bit, but if you look at the placement, it sits higher than one would expect if it was flush with the rear trunnion as a normal adapter would be. I fear it sits too high for my tastes, but probably high enough to warrant his choice in iron sights. In any case: the guy is a genius. One can't deny he is at the top of the game. His aesthetics, however, have always been iffy.... |

I'll take pics of my BRN 180 lower if you guys want. It has the same type adapter it looks like. Just a small pic rail back there. 3 maybe 4 slots. It has room to adjust some. Enough to make a big difference to how it feels.
ETA He may be going for using standard AR type optics with this setup too. Height over bore will be an issue with cheaper optics though that don't have the range of movement built in. |

View Quote Ya HOB is going to be goofy here, would prefer they lower the optics section down I mean, granted I’ve used a VHS-2, and it’s doable, I’d prefer lower mounts for an AK |

My gawd that's ugly, there literally isn't a single thing I like about it.
Only good thing about Krebs, is the perfectly good and useful parts he pulls off of stock rifles and sells cheap, I have a nice stash of Vepr safeties I got for 10 bucks a piece, so i'm grateful for that at least. |

Quoted: other than being in 7.62x39, that's just gross. View Quote Truth. I was gonna give it one point at least for being 7.62x39, but that shitty plastic mag screwed even that up. It looks like some barely post-pubescent Redditor decided to photoshop together chunks of videogame guns to make his ideal weapon. |

Ouch. I was taking a dig at ya, but damn son.
Go shoot a few mags man, you'll feel better in the morning. |

BigSal UPDATE: Still no word on 5.45 or 5.56 versions release date.

I hope they find a way to mass produce this at a good price point, Kreb’s is a small shop so I’m not sure that will happen

AK12 at home, Krebs Custom M23 Prototype review. Part 1. I posted a question this AM about how well the hand guard mitigates heat. Looks like it was removed. May be a Youtube issue. Waiting for the Rumble post. Would like to see a flip down rear sight. It’s the gen 1 galil ace’s sole flaw. Marc’s stamped receiver should make his M23 lighter to handle than the Galil for sure. In 16” guise, the ACE is a beast. |

Stock and sight height both look dumb, but I don't make a fortune on posting youtube videos so I'm not the intended market any way.

Quoted: Stock and sight height both look dumb, but I don't make a fortune on posting youtube videos so I'm not the intended market any way. View Quote It's a good stock on SBR/PDW/PCC but looks weird on an AK. I have one on a short foxtrot mike build and it's nice. Wouldn't want it on a fullsize rifle. It's very lightweight and would probably throw off the balance on an AK Imo |

Quoted: Stock and sight height both look dumb, but I don't make a fortune on posting youtube videos so I'm not the intended market any way. View Quote Krebs is using a 1913 rear trunion, so I would imagine you could easily install an AR stock adapter or use the MI AK alpha stock at a lower height. I am not a fan of any Sig USA products either. |

The vid confirmed that I think they need to lower the stock and sites
Klay actually said the same thing I posted above about selling them without a stock or irons Ready for 5.56 otherwise |

Quoted: The vid confirmed that I think they need to lower the stock and sites Klay actually said the same thing I posted above about selling them without a stock or irons Ready for 5.56 otherwise View Quote It’s a good idea. My take: A standard rear sight. A FSB/GB combo. Standard ak100 side folding stock. Allow America’s favorite poster (BigSal) to review the sample rifle in 5.45. All of these things could be done to make this thing PERFECT! |

All of these things could be done to make this thing PERFECT! View Quote lol. a standard AK rear sight would defeat the purpose of the design. Marc Krebs has always been big on using AR-15 style peep sights on his builds in the past. He is trying to achieve a bigger rear sight radius like on the original Galils. It makes sense, but I would prefer an integrated flip up rear sight similar to a good quality AR-15 rear (like KAC or the Magpul Pro) to allow for the use of LPVO optics. He is already using a Sig 550 style FSB/gas block combo. Look at the pics. I think this is what Rifle Dynamics could have done with the Venom Tactical gas block rather than the industrial grade screw. Makes life easier to adjust the gas setting, but obviously it is not “infinitesimal” like the screw adjustment on the venom tactical/RD design. KlayCo mentions in his first video on the M23 prior to the match that he is asking Marc for a gas valve with more ports to allow for better suppressor tuning. Having said, I’m sure Marc drilled an appropriate sized gas port in his barrels so the system would not be over gassed. I like the RD gas block on my SAM-5. I would prefer a adjustment valve like on my SG 551 I own or a FN SCAR though. Of course, I just wanted to use a calculus term on this forum like “infinitesimal”. |

Krebs M23 AK: Possibly the most modern "Space AK" in 2023. Part 2 |
|

I posted a remark about a solution to their top cover problem. Namely, if the stock attachment interferes with the recoil spring button when trying to open the top cover, they can add a system similar to Zastava’s. Adding another latch or reinforcement could add rigidity to the cover as well.
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. It’s not like I need another 7.62x39 rifle |
