yesterday at the range, what a wonderful day, today it's pouring.

bulgarian build by inrange, russian plum furniture with a kvar grip.

922 is the kvar u.s. grip, fcg, receiver, and a kvar u.s. floorplate.

the binos are east german zeiss jena's. they were made before the wall came down. awesome glass for what they are. a true bargain, i picked them up for $80.

larry vickers knows his glass.....

The sling is a gear sector 2pt with the HK adapter for the front, best sling I've found (after going through a few).

The can is for fun, ain't real. I had a buddy over last night (co-worker from Cali) and wanted to get the best shock value out of showing the 74 to him. Picked it up from Nictra, figured it would make a fun pic.

I've thought about getting a 5.56 can and adapter, but I don't see any benefit in suppressing 5.45, especially since my ammo stash is all corrosive.

Here's my Bulgy 74 build gun in wood.

And here it is in K-Var's plum stock set.

Which one do you think looks better?
It runs good, it has over 4k rounds through it now &  is starting to show some wear.
But I just can't put it down, it is so fun to shoot.

Some things in life go together, some things don't. Plum on an AKM is like lipstick on a pig.

Don't feel bad at all about having plum furniture on your sgl-21. I have the same thing. It's kind of nice to have all the modern features of a 74 with the old school 7.62 chambering. And honestly unless you manage to score a wartime bring back, or have some way to score a genuine imported selective fire Russian ak, they're all just replicas or variant replicas anyway. And SGl 21's are modeled after the ak103 series which marries the AKM design with developments from the ak74 and ak74m. They weren't modeled after the ak47 or akm since they are essentially just a re-calibered ak74m developed beside the ak101 as an updated version of the akm and akms assault rifles so just have the features you like

Noob question!!!

Whats the "correct" country for a plum AK? I love the plum guns (my inner pimp I guess), and would like to get one and have the details lined up. If I recall its a Bulgarian thing. Also how about stocks?Fixed or folding or both are "correct".

Thank you.

As far as I know, the only "correct" country for plum is Russia. But that really doesn't matter.

I've always heard that the Russians, for whatever the reason, had trouble getting the particular plastic stocks used on their AK's to turn out black. I suppose some problem with the manufacturing process? I guess the plastic kept coming out a plum color, which is why were only short lived before they perfected the black.

Not sure how true, but it makes sense since now they make black and don't seem to use Plum much anymore.
