I know some of you shooters have completely refinished your Maadi... Just wondering...what did you use for a new finish on the METAL parts???...  ...Paint...or "what"...PIC'S would be great!... Did you go with a custom paint job?....or stay with a "flat" type finish?... Again...thanks in advance!...NOW...lets see 'em!.... - |

Well... I don't have a camera or pics of my MAADIs but I can tell you how I did it. I have
refinished two INTRAC MAADI ARMs. I used Citistrip foam on the metal and let it sit for like an hour or so. The crappy Egyptian paint will bubble up and wipe off. If you get any stubborn spots just respray it and let it sit again and use a scotchbrite pad to help you. The first rifle I did I used Duplicolor engine enamel "Ford semigloss black". This finish looks identical to the original MAADI. I baked it on my grill for 30 mins at 120deg. So far it has held up and it looks pretty damn good. The second rifle I had a friend Duracoat it in "HK semigloss black" and it also looks really good. I'm not sure which one is more durable, but for the price difference I can't see a reason to not use the duplicolor again. If I were to do a 3rd rifle I think I would just send it to Norrell's to have it bead blasted and molyresin coated. Are you looking to redo the wood as well? |

Kool man...thanks for the info...I was toying with some Rust-Oleum "Color Shift" paint...looks kina wild in the sun...changes colors......with a little bit of flake in it... I was planning on removing all the wood parts, which are in great shape, and sort of
going with a "tacta-cool" set up...I know I'm gonna catch hell for this from the purists...but...  ...whatthe heck, it's my dime. I have my reasons for changing to an adjustable CQB-style stock with buffer tube...and new handguards... I'm really liking the UltiMAK stuff......  ...plus a Magpull AFG2 instead of a verticle front grip,Still tryin' to decide on a newer Shock Absorbing Buttstock...not sure about the folding option yet. I'll post a list of parts when I get it finalized.........taking some design hints from the AK designed by Travis Haley...gotta love that one... - |
