I really like the CSS handguards! Used them on quite a few and never been let down.

It's an NDS-1KP receiver. Not everyone buys AKs premade.

How's the gas blowback? I'm doing something similar and was thinking about the vented ultimak.

As in how the gun shoots normally with a non-vented Ultimak? – Mine is the non-vented version of the Ultimak, although there's a gap front and back of the rail which is normal. It's been shooting perfect.

Or in how is the gas blowback due to the suppressor? Didn't notice any gas in my face, but it was windy out so who knows (only got a chance to shoot a couple shots before the range closed). AK's really aren't the ideal candidate to suppress (LOTS of noise still), but I had the SDN-6 for my 9" 300 BLK AR-15, and had the 51T flash-hiders on my other rifles as well so why not have my local shop thread a 51T in 14x1LH for the AK.

Picked up another Vepr, since I regretted selling the ones I bought under $500! Now I need to get another one in .308. Loved that gun. This Vepr I think I may leave the wood for awhile. adding a '74 brake and had to refinish the wood since the factory stain was a very light brown color I didn't really care for. Running a Bushnell AR223 till Primary Arms can get their 1-6 back in stock.

No. I didn't want to get into a $300+ bill to have somebody pull the barrel and re-thread it (when the base AK pistol was $500). I instead took the chance that my AK barrel was actually threaded concentric to the bore, and had my gunsmith re-thread the AAC 51T flash-hider to 14x1 LH threads.

Then I installed the flash-hider (still have to dremel out the notch for the catch actually), and took a perfectly straight rod I got from Mc-Master Carr (a "O1 Tool Steel, Tight-Tolerance Rod" with something crazy like 0.00002mm variance in straightness per 3-foot length - Geissele sells a similar rod but it's $75 instead of $6) and dropped it down the barrel. The rod was perfectly centered so I crossed my fingers, turned my head, and did a test fire. No baffle strike. Shot it some more and it seems good to go.
