$600 17" barrel
$35 Alumalite muzzle brake "Fake can" -solid chunk of aluminum... yeah its not super light. $150 Ironwood DesignsStock and PG (Walnut with burn pattern made by me via, MSR pocket rocket) 
$50 Custom Handguard from Rhilandarms (again in Walnut with some burn marks by me) Sight block cut and re/welded on to the gas block. (Priceless) $10 Hungarian Leather sling $330 POSP 8x42 PRO MIL Dot scope. I would estimate the total to be around $1200. I did all the work myself. Cut the barrel down to 17" and threaded it 14x1 all the way up to the gas block. Installed Alumalite muzzle brake aka "Fake Can" Cut apart the front sight and re-welded it on to the gas block. (Lots of grinding involved) Installed the stock which had a lot of layers of Teak oil on it, before I took the torch to it, after which I used some more walnut stain to give it the glazed effect, more teak oil after that. The rest is self explanatory. My goal for this rifle is to use it for hunting or plinking all that 7.62x54r ammo that I have. Fake can is there for balance. This way I can get use to it. I am waiting for suppressors to become legal in MI so that I can put a real one on at some later time. |

I've had this PSL for about a year and a half and really wanted to use it for hunting hogs out of a box stand. In it's original configuration (long as a mother*&^@*#$) it didnt play well at that task so I set out to make things right. I had the barrel cut and recrowned and then threaded 5/8x24. I attached a Blackout 51T flash hider so I can use my buddies 7.62 AAC suppressor when we hunt together. I refinished the stock to give it that "war torn" yet still feel new look. Lastly I installed a Tapco G2 trigger and ACE clamp on front sight block.

On top is a burris laser range finding scope. Works well out to 700 yards. I don't have any other pics yet. But next time I take it out I'll take some better ones for ya. |

I could have gotten it cheaper if I opted for the type with the plastic base but I specifically wanted the laminated one to match the stock. Keep in mind that the ITC rest isn't bad, and in fact may even be superior mine, I don't know. The price I paid was due to the pads being a military antique than quality. At any rate, these rifles are at best 3 MOA shooters so there ain't a whole lot that can be done to improve them regardless of what cheek rest is used, I fear... |

Here's my new (to me) FPK/PSL...I have some tiger maple furniture from Rhineland Arms to put on it. Thinking of a different color besides red or brown. Maybe a Navy Blue...or a Dark Green...would really set off the grain in the Tiger Maple.

Russian PSOP illuminated 8x scope, from Kalinka Optics. It came with a rubber eyecup but since I wear glasses I swapped it out with the original collapsible rubber eyepiece The good news is that it makes a world of difference when I zero in on the target. The bad news is that the scope tube is a lot larger so I can't use the iron sights (the reason why the original 4x scope is set so high off the rifle frame). |

brand new to me 1979 Cugir PSL from CAI. found her in a gun/pawn shop yesterday. very little wear as if it was shot then put in a safe and forgotten for a number of years. needed a little clean up around the gas tube and a good cleaning and lube. looks nearly new now. these damn things are so hard to find these days i was shocked that i stumbled on one yesterday. asking $850, i negotiated down to $750. pretty good i feel for the rifle, scope(79') cover, and 2 mags. prices seem to be jumping on anything AK these days so i wanted to buy in now rather then later.

Now comes the irresistable urge to accessorize the hell out of it- recoil pads, scope upgrades, specialized ammunition scrounging, replacement furniture, bayonets, etc etc etc... |

i think i am gonna leave the wood alone as it matches well and looks good. will probably swap to a PSOP zoom scope on a low base. swap the trigger group to a arsenal, tapco, or red star. and call it good and just work on my shooting at longer and longer distance. i have my sgl's for hot rodding out
