So I bought an Egyptian MAADI with all matching numbers and original wood yesterday from a local shop where I have known the owner awhile. Today I checked headspace with Clymer gauges and the bolt easily closed on the Go gauge, which I knew was a bad sign. The bolt then easily closed on the No Go gauge as well. 
The simple question is, what are my options? In researching this, I don't think a new bolt will solve it, only adjusting the barrel, correct? I have neither the tools nor the technical knowledge for this. Did I buy a lemon and am I out my money? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. |
| At this point you may want to search out a field gauge and see if the bolt still closes. It is possible the rifle is still safe to shoot closing on a no go gauge but your concern is reasonable. |

It may be a non problem, as mentioned. If it still closes on the field gauge the rifle is out of spec and really needs to be fixed. The good news is if you can find someone local to you that has the tools to build an AK you can get the barrel set back, drill the pin hole oversize and install an oversized pin. Good luck. AJ |
| When I got my C39v2, everyone said I would have issues. So I ordered a no go gage. What I learned was that there is two types of chamber reamers in use. American SAAMI (which the green mountain barrel on my rifle uses) and one used by foreign manufacturers. I am told that using them in the opposite barrels will give false indications. Make sure your gauge is correct for your rifle. |
