Starting to get into AK’s and I’ve had this one for about 10years and it’s never been fired because the goofy thumb hole stock is uncomfortable and crazy long lop. I wanted an Ironwood kit when those were available but drug my feet for too long. Decided to look at Kalashnicarver kits and noticed the slant cut does look like other slant cuts. What I was told by a local store, was it was a Polytech Spiker that was already in US but not through customs when the ban went into effect. So it was neutered stateside. Were these receivers cut differently? Seem like all the ones I see online have more of a flat area on the back before the cut for the slant. This one’s almost slanted the entire way except for a small portion. What are my options to get a regular stock for it? The gun shop I went to said it would be best to have someone weld up a section on the slant and have it squared up again, but that was many years ago and not sure who could do that and if it’s even worth doing it.   |

well that is a ugly one , if it were mine , i would get the slant adapter to standard stock , and dremel that nast cut to fit the adaptor , one thing ive noticed with slant cuts is i have never worked on one that both sides were even , when fitting a stock to it one side ends up needing deeper fitting than the other in order to keep the stock in line with the axis of the rifle i have not actually worked with the adaptor so my guess would be you would end up needing to file the receiver to marry the adaptor to the receiver as well as keeping it square withe the rifle , either route you go you will want to clean those receiver cuts up ive only done 3 with wood stocks and only still have one of those , a NM Mak91 i fitted the wine colored Legend furniture to, i did a combination of some filing of the edges on the receiver and adjusting the stock alignment when fitting  i remember seeing the slant adaptor to wood when researching a adaptor for a side folder Mak i did (straight cut) , i looked and have no clue where i seen it , only slant adapters that pop up are M4 style and thats just gross but to each his own i would clean the receiver edges up , fit a wood stock to the receiver , if it changes your LOP too much for you pop a rubber AK slip on butt pad on it |
