To everyone out there who previously had real surplus plum furniture. Is Palmettos pretty good? Stand in for the old surplus stuff as far as color and tone? I didn’t care for KVars new plum. I’m debating between getting a 103 with new PSA plum or an action and putting an extra set of surplus plum that I have. Thanks! |

I cannot speak to the plum, but the redwood furniture is beautiful. I just installed a set on my AK556.

The PSA is just a bit more uniformly purple. I remember Bulgarian surplus plum as almost a sun faded black in person. What I hate is they make all the pieces plum. I'm used to the grip in a plum set being that Bulgarian dark orange color, but not bakelite orange. I also wish they would make a "pro set". Same external look but more polymer material in the handguards and a solid stock that has less drum effect. The current sets are a wee bit flimsy. |

I'm pretty picky with aesthetics and I have a Russian top handguard on my psa, as well as a Russian grip, doesn't bother me at all. Matches pretty well. Attached File |
