So I happen to get this Side Folder DDI 7.62 receiver for $10 at Centerfire Systems AND they gave another one free - All total $20 delivered to my FFL + FFL fee of course, but yeah two AK receivers for $20. This was a few weeks ago - I regret not getting more but I really wanted to know how mad they were. Weird thing is there is nothing wrong with them as far as I can tell. They were not rusty, are fully heat treated and one went together just fine! Everything fit the way it should - holes lined up perfectly including the side rail??? I ended up getting a Riley Defense Krink kit at CSS when they had 12% off sale just before the holiday weekend. The Riley kit needed some fitting here and there, very little was assembled on it but nothing extreme, like the recoil spring catch was too wide for its slot in the Riley side folder trunnion - Riley made both but still needed fitting but easy just file=fix filing, sanding here and there but nothing to extreme or difficult. I would say I had a challenge getting the rear stock latch assembled with spring and pin (pin was hard to get in hole in catch while prying the spring back with a screwdriver - just not easy as I would have wanted. Again not too bad. The Riley Fire control group is USA marked, kind of rough casting or finish - I polished them a little at contact points like where the carrier hits the hammer, etc. to smooth it up. I replaced the furniture, added a bakelite grip, bakelite Russian mag - it looks better. I need a Krink cone Flash Hider (got one on order) When I placed the trigger guard I was able to fit Russian, Yugo, Korean and even a Tapco (fakealite orange) ! Yeah! The only big disappointments came as : 1) The Brace just isn't cool - I'm going to have to go with a stock and pay $200 again for another Form 1!!!! The brace was one I removed from another gun when I SBRd. 2) The Brownells Alumahyde (brand new can I ordered a month or so ago) was crap. I have known this product for decades, used it on many guns. I have many clean out nozzles, extra nozzles, prep it by shaking heating, etc. It just spat out a stream of goop and then spat out some gritty paint. No amt of more shaking or cleaning it with clean out nozzles fixed it. Not sure what happened to their product as it used to be pretty reliable - Probably some enviro-mental regs made a key ingredient get nerfed. I just sprayed Rust-Oleum just to get it evenly colored - I will probably re-do it after it cures and I can sand it all smooth it out and re-coat  |

@cherenkov , sorry just now seeing your thread, there is a well-known issue now about Alumahyde that's been sold over the lat year or better, they apparently got multiple bad batches of the stuff and everybody is holding off on buying any more until they get it worked out. Contact them, they might at least refund your money for the bad can, don't try any other cans you might have in the meantime. Your build turned out nice anyway! Rustoleum appliance epoxy FTW though, toughest stuff you can use on the cheap. |

So truth be told, I actually fitted some laminated wood Krink furniture from Evike (airsoft) but rela laminated wood - that required some mild fitting. It's been form-1d now and I got an AKMSU forend from evike as well - that one was just a simple hole saw hole so I crafted it to be more like a real AKMSU fore-grip - again inexpensive and real laminated wood.
