Hi, so I bought a Wasr 6 months ago off of a user here. I took it to the range yesterday and it would not fully cock back when I attempted to shoot it. I opened the cover up, and this part fell out. Can anyone help with the identification of the part and also if it’s an easy fix or should I take it to the gunsmith? Thank you.

It is shepherds hook. It is required, it holds the trigger and hammer pins in. It is an easy fix, no smith needed but without some experiences installing them before it can seem daunting. You can pick up an aftermarket one that installs very easily. |

The loop goes around the peg on the fire selector, the other end wedges between the inside of the receiver and the notch in the hammer/trigger pins. They're a pain because the spring is under tension when you slide the selector in, which can make it less than easy to get the wire in both notches and the selector pin through the loop and into the receiver. Google "ak fcg plate" and view the photos. Ironically, they'll show you how the shepherds hook goes in along with the aftermarket steel plates. |

Attached File Take trigger or hammer pin out of your rifle and bring it to your local small family owner hardware store (not Lowes or Home Depot). Find an E-Clip in the nut and bolt aisle that fits on the pin. Buy 4. They cost $0.03 to $0.10 each. Depending on the thickness of the E-Clip, you might need 1 or 2 on each pin. |
