My Valmet M71/s plastic stock came to me cracked and missing the shelf nubbin that is under the receiver touching the pistol grip. Luckily for me, I have friends with fun toys who can scan and print things. We made some updates on AKFiles regarding this. Now the prototype exists and fits with some sanding and filing. I tried to gorilla grab it and break it, but it held up. It uses the original bolt/washer. There isn't that shelf bit, but oh well. This beats a hollow cracked plastic stock by a mile. The buttpad is a separate piece like the originals. We will work on making it split to be half TPU or rubber so there will be better recoil absorption. The main body is carbon fiber nylon with infill and walls around the hole where the bolt goes. A hen's tooth part exists again. Valmet M71s stock album  P.S. We are also examining my magazine to see the feasibility to scan sections of it to graft onto existing AK mag models to make a functional mag. I promise we won't post once or twice then disappear like others seem to when mentioning mags. |

I was able to find the original polymer stock, but I passed up on it, because it is effectively no better than the wooden stock. I bought mine for shooting and the finnish army version does not have a wooden stock, so it is alien to me. Went with ar style stock adpater instead. Once again mine is for shooting, not collecting. As for mags, those would be great. You can modify few mags to work, but plug and play mags would be appreciated. Interestingly I was able to get magpul pmag to feed with snap caps if I held it in correct position with my hand. Of course no idea if it works with live rounds at all. Aluminum usgi mags did not seem to work. I had an idea for 3d printed part you attach to the top of the pmag to get it to lock in. But not sure if feed lips need to be adjusted as well. |
