| I see WBP is now selling Jack rifles with nitride barrels and chrome lined barrels. The nitride ones are $100 or so cheaper in overall rifle cost, but is it worth it in the long run. I hear talk that nitride barrels can be more accurate (never experienced this myself though). Just wondering why they are making this change to the lineup, anyone know? |

You may or may not experience a tiny bit better accuracy with a nitride barrel as opposed to a CL barrel You will most definitely experience half the barrel life or less with a nitride barrel than you would a CL barrel. A good CHF CL barrel will in general last 2-5 times longer than a nitride barrel. Nitriding is cheap, it's the only real reason anyone uses it. ETA: Re-reading the OP and trying to answer the actual question he had, lol, just speculation on my part, but they simply added that option to make a slightly cheaper rifle in hopes of selling more of them. If all you ever do is go to the range twice a year and shoot a couple hundred rounds, a nitride barrel will last for years, for those people I guess it makes sense. |

| I'd much prefer to have chrome lined, especially with 7.62x39. When I saw nitride in the product description on Atlantic's website I was curious why WBP would offer both. I ad 2 of WBP's 5.56 Jacks in the past few years and the accuracy was not acceptable to me, never had one in 7.62 yet. I currently have a Mini Jack in 5.56 which I like a lot and shoots well, but I'm in the market for a 7.62 rifle and still looking. |
