Picked this up a while back and chucked in the safe and forgot about it. Rifle is Marked MAK90, but it has been remarked via grinding off the previous model. Also marked National Match, and Factory 386. I’m guessing this is a very early post 89 ban gun, based on the remarked model, spiker cut handguard and what appears to be an uncut type 3 milled receiver missing the lower tang. Also has some sort of triangular scope mount and the Chinese characters translate to “precision gun” per Google translate Should be an easy conversion to a spiker with the correct parts, right? Find a type 3 stock, cut barrel and install spiker parts?

Looks like a MAK91 , but I don't remember them being milled. Also the markings on the receiver are interesting. Front handguard maybe added later? The grind marks could be one caught in customs and then changed to fit the new requirements? Weird for sure? Edit* Apparently they were in milled Mak91 milled |

I've sourced the missing parts I needed, now its off to get the spiker FSB and lower tang installed and fix a few other issues. It'll be a mix master for sure, but at least the wood matches somewhat. Pretty sure its a Bulgarian hardwood stock and a russian pistol grip.

Your rifle was originally a Poly Tech "National Match", model NM47, when it started out life as a pre-1989 ban model. Those rifles were sort-of a "long-barreled PTK Legend", but had an air-gauged, longer match barrel, a unique scope mounting rail, and a butt stock which was longer than that of a standard AK-47. The Chinese lettering on the right-rear of the receiver does denote its precision rifle status. These rifles originally shipped with both a standard muzzle nut and a unique cone-shaped flash hider. The NM47 really did shoot significantly more accurately than a standard Chinese AK, according to magazine tests of the era. I would be tempted to restore it to its former self, but the correct butt stock would be difficult to find. The handguards and pistol grip are standard, dark-finished PTK Legend parts, which are still available on the 'broker site, and other places as well, I'm sure. |

its a MAK-91 , it started life as a Poly Tech National Match , but then the assault weapons ban hit and they had to hack it up to qualify for importation , not sure why the grind marks , i have a Mak 91 and the poly version , they usually dis a partial slant cut , a stock can be fitted with care and let me know if you try i will explain how to secure it other wise you will need a brown Mak T-hole , the lower handguard does not belong , they were never spikers  |
