Sorry about the delay, besides my real work picking up, and deer/ shrimp season starting, its hard to get to the posting part. Still cutting away, however. Will be posting some intresting cutaways for the next couple of weeks.
The least intresting of them is the Zombie VS Vmax, same bullets just different color tips. On the 7.62x39 zombie/ vmax thread, the V max was a older bullet that came from a friend. That might be why there was a thicker jacket than the other. We are up to 110 different - 7.62x39's cut! Thanks for looking wolfgang

It is common for single base extruded powders to burn cleaner than ball powders (which are all double-base), and some double base extruded powders can be cleaner burning than some ball powders. There's no hard and fast rule, but generally double-base powders leave more residue, and generally spherical powders have more graphite/coating which is also a source of additional residue. That extruded powder in wolfgang's pictures looks like one of the newer "short" extruded powders. Cutting the grains shorter changes burn rate slightly, but allows the loader to meter the powder more smoothly. |
