Quoted: Got my M&A order yesterday. First time I dealt with them but they were great. Fast shipping and good service. I ended up placing two orders. I ordered my upper and some sight parts, then later realized I needed a Delta ring assemble and some other small parts and placed another order. I was just going to suck up the extra shipping since it was my fault for not ordering all at once. The next morning I saw I had a shipping refund on the second order and they sent me a not saying they saw I placed two orders so they combined them. I thought that was awesome. Anyway, here's the upper. It looks good. It does have M4 ramps, which was fine for my project since I'm doing a carbine and the barrel has M4 ramps. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/42803/20230817_171351_jpg-2923632.JPG https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/42803/20230817_171434_jpg-2923633.JPG https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/42803/20230817_171444_jpg-2923635.JPG View Quote I hate this place. Even though I’ve already got an RRA M4 A2 upper receiver.. This upper looks too nice not to pass up. Who knows when there will be another drought on retro parts again. Attached File |

I had a few issues with my Thunder Tactical upper and I cannot even post a review on their website. The anodizing seems very easy to marr. The hole for the gas tube I had to enlarge. The rear lug isn't lining up with my rear take down pin so I need to ream it some. That lower works fine on several other uppers. I haven't gotten my rear sight assembly yet. Hope it fits okay.

Getting closer.
I went with a DelTon 16" 1x9 LW Chrome Moly Vanadium Barrel (5.56) w/A2 FSB. The M4 ramps on the barrel line up perfect with the ramps on the upper. Waiting on: CAR HGs, A2 front fight post, sling swivel rivet and the A1 F/H. Lower is complete. I really wanted to go with the vinyl coated CAR stock, but that's not close to anything correct. I’ve been using this block for years and have never had this happen before. I haven’t installed s barrel yet |

Quoted: As no one commented, I’ll add my thoughts since it arrived. Looks good, no issues there, but the righttobear.com A2 upper and the Amherstmilitarydepot.com A2 sight assembly is not compatible. One or the other is out of spec or they’re both on the same side of being almost out of spec that the tolerances are incompatible with each other. The problem is that the sight assembly contacts the upper receiver. I get a handful of clicks as it goes down initially, then I lose all audible and tactile clicks. It requires two hands to force the wheel to turn and there’s no indication if the drum is in the detent or not. Sue to contacting the upper it nearly comes to a complete stop almost at the bottom (you can see that point in the picture). It will eventually get past that point then suddenly tactile and audible clicks return. I don’t know if it’s the upper or the sight assembly. Going to call the retailers tomorrow to see what can be done. https://i.imgur.com/8XsY1Cm.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/Ccqpazr.jpg View Quote I'd take a hand file and some aluminum black to that upper. |

I had zero issues with my Amherst sight assembly and H&R upper, so I suspect your issue is not the sight assembly.

Quoted: Update: I talked to both companies and they were both extremely helpful. The company that sold me the sight is sending out a new assembly base and I’ll send the old one back to them. I test fit it and it clicked up and down without restriction. As requested I transferred over the small parts for the sight base and have sent the original and nonfunctional base back to them with the prepaid label. I found one visual difference between the two bases. The one that was incompatible with the A2 upper has a mathematic square root symbol and a “2”. The base that is correct has the square root symbol and a “1”. Even though this was a small inconvenience, Amherst was instantly responsive and sent out the new part at no cost to me. From what he told me, I was the third person who called that day about the A2 sight assemblies. I doubt this mix up will ever occur again for them. Buy in confidence. Additionally, right to bear was also excellent to deal with. I called them first and they immediately offered a refund on the upper though I held off to speak to Amherst first. Both companies and products are gtg. |
