Not really a T2 in style but appears close in overall size. I like it. If it is Aimpoint's usual high quality stuff it will give the Romeo4T a hard run for the money. I like the T2. I also like the Romeo. Marry them and you get the RDS? https://aimpoint.us/duty_rds/ |

I wonder if it is T1/T2 footprint for mounts. |

Quoted: Too bad they haven’t figured out how to do a circle dot. Holosun is beating them with that reticle option. Yeah this looks like a response to Holosun, but I'd rather have the Holosun for the reticle options. Nice that they offered an option for folks who don't want a Holosun though. My hunch is if they had this option years ago, Holosun might not have gained the marketshare they have. |

Quoted: Too bad they haven’t figured out how to do a circle dot. Holosun is beating them with that reticle option. Unfair and untrue. Eotech is a fair comparison in concerns to a circle dot. Not Aimpoint, the only thing that Holosuns have on Aimpoint's is a price point, which is a true and fair comparison. |

Holosun is a LED that is very crisp. My astigmatism prefers LED Circle Dots IMO. On the Eotech I see almost like 3 Reticles. |

Quoted: To re-iterate the above comment. Aimpoint needed to do a circle dot reticle version. Otherwise, the only thing this new product will do is steal sales from their T2 line. Budget wise I probably wouldnt buy a T2 (I have a couple PROs) but may buy 1 of these to try a micro |

I own a lot of optics, and specifically the following Aimpoint’s; H2, T2, CompM3, and PRO. I also own an Eotech EXPS3-0 and a Holosun 403R (dot only) and 503GU (circle dot). Eotech to Aimpoint in my opinion has always been and apples to oranges comparison. Battery life being the big difference. Also now that micro T2 sized red dots are the popular option as opposed to 30mm red dots size is also a big difference. Your only option if you want a T2 sized optic with circle dot is Holosun (and maybe Sig). |

On the Eotech I see almost like 3 Reticles. Aimpoint was never known for having a circle dot. Ya can't be killing another company just because they never had an interest in bringing it to the table just because it was being demanded from them by a certain demographic. I own an MRO HD. It has the circle dot. It honestly does nothing for me better than a regular dot does. But that's just me talking, I consider it to be low hanging fruit and not a feature. You should be comparing it to other circle dot minis then. It would actually be fair that way rather than dismiss because it doesn't cater to just your needs. This is nothing more than a SFP vs. FFP argument for dots. |

This has nothing to do with function but with the shape of the base, I'm thinking aftermarket risers are going to make the whole package look goofy. Attached File |

I just played around with a photo editor and mated the Duty RDS with a Scalarworks 1.93" T1/T2 mount. What do you all think? Attached File Scalarworks 1.93" with T2 for refence: Attached File |

Just noticed something else. It looks like the Duty RDS sits higher than the T1/T2 so existing T1/T2 risers are going to be an issue if the Duty RDS shares the same footprint as the T1/T2. Attached File |

I wonder if using one size shorter would net the same results like using a T2 absolute mount would give lower 1/3 with this? |

Finally Aimpoint seems to have got it right. Hopefully this will perform well under nods which seems to be weakness of holosuns and cheaper red dots. Quoted: To re-iterate the above comment. Aimpoint needed to do a circle dot reticle version. Otherwise, the only thing this new product will do is steal sales from their T2 line. Do people really use the circle dot that much? I always turn it off in my micro style holosuns because the window is so small that it looks too busy with anything other than a simple red dot. |

If the edge of your circle lines up nicely for close 7-10yd shots (with a 50/200 zero) it's a neat feature to have. |

I am not sure what I think about the tiny brightness buttons the lower battery life. Battery life isn't everything but I still have higher expectations for a near $500 for this optic. I am thinking the small buttons will be more difficult to use than the dial on the T1/T2 micros. Especially when wearing gloves. However, I will reserve judgement until I see one in person but I am not too enthusiastic about them at the moment. |

However you will probably need a "CASV" Height mount to get the proper height/cowitness. You'd think they would of made it a 2 piece mount so a LRP base could be purchased as an option. It also looks like the set screw is just threading into aluminum? Not that it won't hold; but that doesn't inspire much confidence for a "Duty" Mount. |

In reality, yes, run them down. |
