Army guy here.  Seems the Lake City stuff is going to the war zones and we are given the crap to shoot.  It turn into a nightmare with failure to extracts after about 7-8 mags  in 50% percent of the M4s.  It is just a fucking nightmare.  Our training sucks.  This is the L2A2, in 30 round cardboard boxes. Unforutitly, this is all we have to shoot.  I guess I can recommand the ammour issues out a clearing/cleaning rod along with the rifles.

So the US Army issues British RG ammo? What year is the ammo in question?

99 AND 2000.  YES, THEY ISSUE SHITTY BRITISH AMMO FOR OUR TRAINING.

Wow, methinks that the ammo shortage for the Guys in Green is worse then they are letting on. Even with leftovers from Jimmy the Cheap [Carter] we did not shoot some others Countries ammo.

Bought 720 round can. Ammo on stripper clips with tracers removed.
No failure after 120 rounds.
Does not seem to be loaded as hot as XM193.
It feels comparable to my WWB.
I don't have a chrono just going by the feel of it.

Sure does punch nice holes though!

I bought 720 rounds of this ammo from Sportsman's Guide.  This ammo appeared to make more smoke than most brands I have shot, but it has worked without a hitch so far out of my Oly 16" and it is some of the lowest-priced brass cased ammo I have found in .223.  I believe all of the rounds I got were '90 headstamp.  I have gone through about 300 of the 720 rounds I bought so far and I have not had a single malfunction, this is good stuff

I ordered 4K rounds of this (reportedly '92) yesterday ~ had to sell one whole ounce of gold to pay for it! ;) (price = $719.60 from J&G)
Will report back when received, inspected and tested.

Got a case from AIM and put most of it back on the stripper clips. Then I found a round in the bottom of the can without a primer. So now I get to take the stripper clips apart and do it again. Most of the clips had 4 rounds on them. It's RORG 92.

Good on you!  You bought before gold did its swan-dive thingy.  Too bad ammo doesn't seem to go up and down.  Buy the dips!

Did you pay in gold or sell the gold and send cash?

Looks like RG is the way to go?

Yes, it would seem that I did indeed time that one well ~ just prior to a largely anticipated 'correction' (also anticipated is it recovering and then continuing even higher).
It would be nice if ammo vendors accepted bullion as payment! lol  But, no, I dropped in on my local coin dealer and sold the one coin for USD$ to cover the 4K rounds (Gold closed at $720 that day).

I haven't posted back due to not having made it to the range for a proper evaluation as yet.  However, upon initial cursory inspection all 4k rounds look to be 100% - no dents, dings, cracks, etc.,.  all '92 RORG shiny

Traded a friend for a 20" B MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 H BAR with a DPMS lower. He said the rifle was cleaned, and lubed the way it should be. Shot it that day in a HP match with RG L2A2 91 NATO, had 4 short strokes, out of 50. Took the rifle home, cleaned, and lubed it, my way, and have had no further problems from the first  batch of 900rnds RG L2A2 91 NATO ammo, and no other problems from the next 720rnds of L2A2 92 NATO RG. Very accurate ammo in my rifleheMichael

Shot around 100 rounds of RORG 92 headstamp today out of my dirty colt M4.  My scope is sighted on LC M855 and the point of impact seemed to be the same.  I didnt have any problems at all with the stuff.  All shot great.  The percieved recoil seemed very similar to that of the M855.  Good stuff in my opinion, average accuracy and fun to shoot.  Did notice that it seems a little smokey compared to the LC but no biggie.

I've burned my way through over 500 rounds of Radway so far and I have been pleased.
So far I haven't had any ammo-related malfunctions.
It has been easily keeping 4-inch groups at 200 yards and I'm not really all that good of a shot.
Hehe, my only complaint is that it doesn't punch bigger holes. :-)  Maybe I should've gotten an AR-10... LOL.

Today I put three hundred down the tube of my preban eagle arms 16" and it functioned 100%.  I did this within 15 minutes.  I even held the buttstock away from my shoulder all through the last mag to see if I could get it to short stroke,  and it still functioned perfect. The head stamp was '89. I started with a clean action and finished with a slightly dirty one. Very impressed with how clean this stuff is.

ETA: I wasn't testing for accuracy, only function on this trip.

'89 stamp.  Approximately 200 rounds downrange from my Bushmaster C15M4, 16" barrel including flash hider.  Every round went off without a hitch.  No stovepipes, no squibs, no FTFs, no FTEs, no nothing.

Got a can of '92 as well but haven't fired any of it yet.

Went to the range today with a Colt carbine and Franken 20 std model. I took both rifles to try out my 91 headstamp radway and was pleasantly surprised. Late May, 06 bought a 720 round can of Radway from AimSurplus with a 92 headstamp. Shot 719 rounds thru a new RRA NM with no trouble at all. One round had what looked like a split neck or like there wasn't enuff brass material to complete the neck so I tossed it.
Shooting steel plates I found several of the steel penatrators stuck in the steel and laying about.
Accuracy at 100 yards is not as good as WWB.
I Should mention the quick delivery from Aim. I will buy more.

On another board a guy was saying that the Radway Green 5.56mm NATO ammo was under powered. Anybody chrono this ammo, compared to the other flavors? He was saying that the ammo was short stroking because of it being under-powered for use in the Bullpup. Anybody else heard this?

I had already shot about 1000 rounds of '92 Radway Green through my AR when I began Pat Roger's three carbine class this past Saturday.  I shot 1,000+ more rounds during the class without cleaning my weapon once (I did relube it of course).  I experienced zero failures of any kind.  That is, no ammo related failures and no non-ammo related failures.

Accuracy was very good too.

It's good enough for me.

Trialed towards the end of last year, it is in Service now. There are still large stocks of L2A2 to be used though.

Recently bought a 720ct can. {'90 headstamp} Took about 60rds to the range for try-outs
Wasn't too impressed with accuracy when matched up against IMI855, Santa Barbara SS109, and XM 193.
RG > 4-6 MOA with several way off flyers. But it shot "hot", with recoil matching the others.

Others> 2-3 MOA avg

Two rifles used:
1: Oly PCR-4 20" 1:9 non-chrome
2: Model 1 Kit  16" HBAR chromed

The better groups were with the Oly.

Biggest discovery of the day:
Extractor lip of the case head was severely deformed by extractor of both rifles. I don't know if this is from soft brass or hot loads. Whatever reason it damaged the brass enough to make it unusable for reloading. Primers weren't overly flattened.
This problem was NOT seen with any other mfr's cases ( IMI, LC, etc) that day.

Summary: Plinking / Blasting ammo only. Unusable brass drops this ammo into the "Wolf" catagory.
Radway redeems itself only by the ammo can, stripper clips and bandoleers that comes with it.

(Sample group was small by what others have shot, so if accuracy or brass conditions improve, I will revise my opinion)

I shot 90 rounds thru 3 different AR's today and didn't have any problem with any of them.  Maybe my round count wasn't high enough to get them dirty but it did seem AS hot as any other ammo I have around. All three rifles used where Colts, 20" 1/7, 20" 1/9 and a 16" 1/9.  92 dated ammo.  Also my brass was fine after fireing.  When I get time I plan to run it though other guns and more rounds but I was impressed with this little session.

Out of my 20": Radway Green (93 headstamp) chronoed avg of 3055fps (sd of 18.68) for 100 rounds.  For comparision, XM193 chronoed 3188fps (sd 32.24) and wal-mart Winchester WhiteBox 55gr (USA223R1 - made in israel) chronoed 2931fps (sd 23.55).  Results were for 100 rounds of each.  All rounds averaged 2" groups @100yds with iron sights.  No FTF, FTE.  All worked as advertised.  Chrono was setup 10ft in front of the muzzle.

I've fired over 700 round the the stuff dated '90-92 in my 16" Bushmaster 1/9 and SPR Mod 0 clone 1/8.  Nary a hiccup, consistently 2-3 MOA in the Bushmaster and 2 MOA in the SPR.  In fact, I shot a very large javelina with it in the SPR at about 250 yds.  He dropped like a stone but was very alive still as the bullet severed his spine at the neck.  One icepick hole in and out though.

I bought 100 rounds of it and shot it all today.  Mine had a 93 headstamp.

Out of my 14.5 Colt SOCOM barrelled M4 type I had no problems at all.  I shot about 40 rounds without one single problem.

Out of my 20 inch Bushmater 1/7 Govt profile things did not go well.  Every round or two would fail to fully cycle the action and I would have to do it manually.  I am pretty sure its not the gun because when I switched back to Winchester white box 62 gr FMJs I shot through about 50 rounds without a single hiccup.  With the Radway I was getting a failure to cycle about every two or three rounds.

Anyone know why?  I remember being told in Kuwait not to take any north into Baghdad because is was designated for training use only.  We all has M16A2s...

THANKS!

I just received 6 cans and had a few questions:  Some cans had all loose ammo, some cans had 1-4 rounds on the stripper clips, and some cans had 4 rounds on stripper clips.  Some cans had the bando's at the bottom flat, some had the bando's at the top, and some had the bando's rolled up on the top.  Any reason why each can isn't the same?

I'll report back once I actually have a chance to shoot this stuff.

Oh and I did have one round that had several MAJOR dents and three others with dents beyond my liking!  I guess 4 out of 4320 isn't bad.....
