I feel faint.  Hmmm.  Maybe a faux-prototype dream gun with you trigger upper!  I think I need to buy a set just to have!  I call a set, if I don't have to mortgage my kids.

What kind of hand guard cap will it need? It looks from the picture like the more modern round kind.  Will it fit on the triangular cap?

Just think, I had all those Prototype flash hiders for sale on the EE a couple of weeks a go and now they are all gone.

No, they are just as offered before.

I have shot our rifle extensively with these handguards and heat is not an issue.

They do have the support ridges on the inside that could be notched for handguard tabs if somebody wants to fabricate their own.

think unmodified A2 liners would work?

Hey Mike, you dont need to design a slip ring, my65pan had lots of different designs already.

I know I have a couple I am waiting to use on builds.

Outstanding!  I'm glad you were able to make this a reality.  I wrote ArmaLite about this about 18 months ago, and they wouldn't even entertain me.  You've got the clout!

Thanks very much, and set aside a set for me.  My money will be headed your way as soon as you put them up on your website.

Hmmm, can we arrange direct shipping of our handguard to John Thomas?
I imagine many will be headed that way.

I don't see why not.

That is not a problem on my end, for those who wish to do so.  Some "teaser" pictures are below:

jmt - any chance you could darken your paint job up to match this?  Just thinking right now, in case I decide not to go with the mismatch 601 brown look.

Or dare I ask - could the HGs be patterned something like this?  - right click on the image and select "View Image" then click the + cursor.....

I do offer that color (and about any custom combination you want).  In the picture below, the bottom handguard is matched to an original grip.  The bottom picture also shows a darker finish (under "heavily weathred/oxidized" 601 green).

NDS you guys are truely amazing!  I'm glad to see you guys were able to convince Armalite to build some more AR10B handguards specifically for us retro heads, because they would NOT give us little guys the time of day.  You guys truely rock.

I have no plans whatsoever of doing a prototype rifle, but I do love that style of handguards. If I can afford them, I definitely will be ordering a set.

They will work on a 20" 5.56 just fine.

All you need is a round handguard cap which we will include in the set.

I ask because I have a buddy with an AR10 who wanted the old-style handguards but missed the window where Armalite was still selling them.

For a small, niche market, you fellers certainly don't mind going out on a limb taking a risk on low volume stuff like this.  must be the result of love for the weapon system.

I'm definitely in for a pair, they'll be going to JT for his art. There was a reason that Providence kept me from sending him a set of generic A1 guards. I'm doing windshield time most of the day tomorrow but I'll crank up the laptop at a gas stop.
