| I just want the quick-detach feature because of the coolness factor. Will I ever need to remove it, let alone in the dark or under stress... most probably never. There are other sights out there that have the quick-detach feature, so I'm personally pushing for it because I think it will make a great sight better. This is a chance to get a one-of-a-kind limited production item, available nowhere else, and not sold in stores. htFAL Files and there is a need for custom parts, and quality made reproductions of original, hard-to-find/rare parts for the FN FAL. Some vendors have produced quality US made stuff, other items have been made (poorly) overseas. To have someone like Justin here producing quality parts in small lots and listening to your wants/ideas (like the A1 quick-detach charging handles) is a Godsend. Take advantage of it while you can! You guys should be bombarding him with ideas. A quick-deach feature on this sight (in my opinion) will make this a better choice than any of the other sights currently produced... unless you're looking for a sight with an elevation adjustment. |
| Debate over the various sights is good, it leads to inovation. I want one of these and a LaRue to go with my LMT buis, A1 carry handle, A2 Carry handle, and ARMS 40, because this is the USA and I can have them all. Everytime I buy an accessory that I have nothing to mount it on, I buy something new to mount it on. It's good for the industry and us. |
Since you already have "your" A1 BUIS, let's leave this one the way it is so I can get what I want too. I don't like knobs or levers or anything else sticking out of my BUIS. If I needed it to go away in a hurry, I'd rather use a fold-down rather than a detachable anyway. What happens to the "operator" when that rear sight falls out of his pocket while he's in a ditch using his NVS?  At any rate, I think that levers would funk up this particular design which was originally intended for the "simples" in the group. For any of you that remember all my discussions about elevation knobs and how much I like them, you'll realize this is a BIG step for me... BUT... IF you can get the price of this sight under $80, then I'm in for one... (shock, gasp)  After all, if I want to use my elevation wheel and shoot at 500 yard iron maidens, I can use my soon to be "short varmint rifle" and the KAC 200 - 600 meter BUIS.Seriously, <$80 and I'm in! >$80 and I just can't justify it though. | I'm definitely in for one. I've been looking for a lightweight, simple, rugged yet elegant sight for my lightweight SHTF carbine, and I think this is it. I like the fact that it isn't a QD (too much hardware), its simple, and it looks like a rear sight on an AR should. Any word on production time? |

I tried to contact R4fan (the person who started this thread) the other day about this, but I haven't gotten a reply yet. We need to take another count to see how many we have so far. I need to get a 20 piece order before I start production. When we get the min. order number, is anybody here up for getting this group buy together? I would rather one person be in charge of it, since I'd rather make one shipment instead of 20 different shipments. I'm ready to start on these as soon as the #20 is reached. And since it doesn't look like it will be much over 20 pieces, I think the price will probably stay around $95 each. If we can get alot more than 20, the price can drop some. Justin |
I'm still in for 1 of those sights (darn that impulse buying  ) Normally I'm a cheapskate and just want whatever works, but I really like the way it looks; I think it has the elegance and style that's missing from the current crop of sights. The screw instead of the huge knob is a must, since its going to remain on my lightweight SHTF carbine as a permanent rear sight. Any word on how long this'll take? I'm in no super hurry, but I do need to set some funds aside, not to mention finding the sight parts (anyone care to point me in the right direction?)

I'll get the group buy together this week, once I get internet access in my new house. I'm going crazy checking my e-mail here and there. We should have at least 20 orders by now. I should be back on here tomorrow or wednesday, so I'll take a head count then. |

I'm finally back after dealing with no internet and finally a computer virus... Okay, I've completed an updated list of those who want and/or are intersted in the A1 BUIS. Some have clearly stated that they want one, some are interested, and others are waiting for a price decrease. For those of you that want one of these, please let me know by posting to the thread. For those that are still undecided, we need to know if you want one or not. Please check for your name in my list to make sure I got your "I want one" or not. If you don't want one, let me know so I can remove your name from the list. Justin (CNC Gunsmithing) has stated that he needs to get a 20 piece order before he starts production. Unless we get alot more than 20 pieces ordered, it looks like these will be around $95.00 each. 20 is the magic number. If you want one, speak up now! Since I want one of these sights badly, I'll gladly volunteer myself to head the group buy of the A1 BUIS sights. I haven't done one of these before, but I'm sure someone will explain to me how it works. As long as the shipping/insurance is covered, I have no problem repacking them and mailing them out. If I can re-ship them out US Priority mail, I can get the boxes for free. The only thing I can think of is for the payment to be sent to me via U.S. Postal money order, so I don't have to wait for any personal checks to clear. But... I'm getting ahead of myself. Hi R4fan, I haven't checked this thread in a while. I see you have me down for one but as my post (quoted below) indicates, I was hoping it would come in at $80-85 and have a hex nut (so I could complete it for $90 or so). Now that I see the price and final specs have been set, I'm out. It still looks nice...just not for me.

We have met the minimum (20) order requirement so we get a little closer to getting these. What I need now is for everyone that has posted that they want one of the A1 BUIS sights to e-mail me the following: 1. Your AR-15.com screen name 2. How many sights you want 3. Your real name/shipping address (where you want your sight shipped to)/contact info I need this info so I can confirm everyone's order, so nothing gets screwed up. For those that are still unsure or don't send me an e-mail, I'll contact those people myself and see if they are still in this group buy. I also need this info so I have everyone's e-mail/contact/shipping info so I don't have to ask for it in the future. As I get these e-mails, I'll highlight your screen name (in red) in the list on the first page so you know everythings up-to-date. Unless you're interested in buying a sight, or are on one of the lists and don't want one, there is no need to post in this thread.  We already discussed  other manufacturer's sights.

First off, you weren't being nice, you were just being sarcastic. Anyone with common courtesy would have kept their comments to themselves. Now does your mom know you're up this late? I was on AR-15.com years ago and left because of the trolls/petty arguements. Does this place moderate these trolls severly? Onslaught, So far it's going to be around $95 without the internal sight parts, unless we get more buyers. I suppose once we get a final head count, Justin will give us a definite price. I haven't even considered shipping costs yet. |
