Anyone successfully mounted a BAD Lever on one these? Hits on corner of the rib at the top of the trigger opening and the lever feels cast so I am afraid to try and bend it. Attached File |

It might be possible to machine the lower in places to allow it to fit but I don't really want to do that. I don't recommend trying to bend the BAD lever, it's hard aluminum and may break rather than bend. I just went with a larger BHO in the end. |

Quoted: So I have assembled and am having feeding issues. The bullets jam into the top of the barrel. Running a Wiland light weight barrel. Any ideas? Check with Rudy @Mad_Machinist. Many 9mm barrels have the wrong feed cone profile that can cause jams. I'm running a CMMG RDB which has a completely different extension so it isn't an issue like a standard blowback barrel. |

The Phase 5 EBRv3 looks like it would clear, as it doesn't kick forward like the BAD Lever. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Quoted: So what do you guys recommend the best upper to use if I want to use the ccmg BCG? C-5? If you look at the first post in this thread he used the Gibbz G47 upper which is clearanced to accept AK mags but is a side charger. https://www.gibbzarms.com/product/g47-side-charging-upper-receiver/ 1. I'm not a fan of side chargers but if you are that seems to work well. 2. CMMG has posted several times on AR15.com that they use a different material than a milspec cam pin as the RDB design puts a lot of stress on the cam pin that a gas operated AR15 doesn't encounter. So use a different cam pin at your own risk. The Gibbz side charger uses it's own proprietary cam pin to work with their side charger. I myself have already broken 2 or 3 CMMG cam pins already. Who knows maybe the Gibbz cam pin is actually better than the CMMG? Whatever the case may be I'm sure CMMG won't warrant using that cam pin in their design. Don't know what Gibbz would say either. Now if you don't care about a side charger and don't mind having a forward assist (remember the CMMG RDB BCG has functional FA notches so it's not like it won't work), I would get a KS-47 upper and you may have to cut off the over insertion 'tabs' for the Scorpion mags: I'm surprised to see them in stock right now as they are usually always backordered. https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-gen2-ks-47-stripped-upper-receiver.html ![]() Or you may be able to find a used older gen for sale. Picture below from my website show that the first gen didn't have the tabs/stops. ![]() |

Quoted: So what do you guys recommend the best upper to use if I want to use the ccmg BCG? C-5? Much as per Amphibian stated. I originally used a Gibbz G47 upper with the overinsertion tabs trimmed. It also requires a small amount of trimming where the BHO retention tab mounts on the lower. Since then I actually got a special upper from Gibbz, it's the G4 upper (full length ejection port) with the mp5 mag relief cuts (they made a limited number in this configuration specifically for the CMMG type, there might still be some available. You have to contact them as it's a special item). This new upper has worked quite well. I have not noticed any damage to the Gibbz cam pin, but I also haven't run a ton of rounds or used full auto so I can't say for sure. |
|
Quoted: Thanks for all the info, how about the NFA C-5 uppers? The NFA C5 has cut outs to accept the Scorpion style mags, but in my opinion could be cut a little more, as I had to file the corners off the top of my mags for them to lock in. Attached File |
|
Quoted: So what do you guys recommend the best upper to use if I want to use the ccmg BCG? C-5? I ran into issues with another brand BCG riding on the ejector and causing the upper to titer on it making it TIGHT locking in the pins. The NFA BCG has deeper cuts to clear the ejector. I have pics posted on page 3. |

Phase5 extended bolt release does fit. While it does barely make contact with the rib, the natural tendency for the lever to tilt pulls it away. Attached File Attached File |
|
Quoted: Has anyone tried a side charger upper with straight blowback? I know on their website they says their C5-side charger is not compatible with the s-9 lower due to feed ramp clearance. I don't know why that would matter? Gibbz makes the NFA side chargers and I'm running a Gibbz with no issues. |
|
Quoted: I don't know why that would matter? Gibbz makes the NFA side chargers and I'm running a Gibbz with no issues. Not sure. Its what the website says. Anyway... Can any of you guys show us more details how the push button magazine release works? I have an ARV and its very similar to the scorpion but I am liking the push button. So using the NFA bolt the way to go from my understanding? Any issues with the AK-V/AR-V magazines? |
|
Quoted: Any issues with the AK-V/AR-V magazines? I have issues using the AK-V/AR-V mags with my S-9 build that is all NFA parts (upper, lower, bolt, and barrel). The mags work, but will FTF at random points. I was going to do some testing with the mags and electrical tape to keep them from being so wiggly in the mag well. I have not had a chance to do so. The PSA mags are the only ones I have had issues with this pistol. Steve |

Quoted: So, NFA doesn't have any C5 uppers in stock. Does anyone know the dimensions of the magazine relief cuts in the upper receiver? I was thinking of modifying an Aero EPC-9 upper to work with the S-9 lower. Thanks for any help, it is greatly appreciated. There should be a few pics further back to give you the idea, personally I think the C5's need more relief. I will head down to the bunker shortly and get a pic for you showing the measurements. Doesn’t look that dirty with the naked eye Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

| Greetings and good morning to all and thanks for accepting me on this page I know that the topic is a bit old but there is an update or an upper that you recommend without having to modify much I ask you why upper is not yet available and honestly I would like to do this project that uses scorpion mag and I've read almost all the content and I've seen the photos and it looks great and I've been thinking about making 1 for several weeks and that would be my first project and I'd like it to be as perfect as possible |

Ended up getting a blem upper and lower last time and saved almost 50% Steve |

Ended up getting a blem upper and lower last time and saved almost 50% Steve I sent several emails and they told me that they don't have it and they don't know when they will be available and I would really like to put it together because it would be my first project but spend almost 200 and not be able to put it together or use it as it doesn't do it I'm going to call them if I'm lucky because I never asked him about the blem |

Quoted: Hello everyone, has anyone been able to try this and can they give me their opinion? PSA AR-V ESSENTIAL PARTS BUILD KIT Yes, I have one and it works really well. I think it has a 5" barrel I found somewhere. Wound up SBR'ing it and put a Zulu stock on it. As a Lefty, it was a bit gassy shooting suppressed and the secondary buffer in the Zulu helped a lot with that Fun gun to shoot and very reliable so far. |

Quoted: Hello everyone, has anyone been able to try this and can they give me their opinion? PSA AR-V ESSENTIAL PARTS BUILD KIT I went with the NFA upper/lower only because of the mag release. That was my main reason, that and I am not 100% sold on PWAs quality control, but their AR-V mags work well in my scorpion and are very well made. They do have a high degree of variance, but so does the Scorpion. I do not think you can go wrong with either one, the PSA has more options on configurations and complete firearms. Steve |

Yes, it reliably uses my Scorpion mags of all brands. Personally, I don't care for the look of AR-9's that take rear canted Glock mags. Only thing wonky about the AR-V is the mag release. It's an odd, sliding release on left side of lower. Not very friendly to us Lefty's but it is a range toy for me versus a self defense gun. |

Thanks for the info provided, if you can post photos of yours,, and as soon as I start with the project I will let you know the progress and questions or doubts that appear By the way, what bcg are you using the one that comes with the kit or are you using another? |
