It was originally intended for the A2/A4. It is even marked A2 on at least some (but on all prototypes that I've seen) of the prototype rails, including that one. It was later adopted to the M4A1's. (10.3, 12.25, 14.5) And Stickman may or may not have had something to do with that transition.

After finally realizing I had a big, white bathtub, I took some pics. Yeah, I'm pretty much Stickman now

I'm kinda kicking myself for not having picked up one or two from the Brownells deal. If you are going to paint the rail anyway, that is a great way to do it. However, I did not, so I'll have to console myself with what I have, which makes me sad...
