I never liked 6940`s until this thread. They are pretty sweet! I didn't either until I handled one the other day at the local dealer. I can't believe how compact the rail is and how solid the gun feels. The trigger was excellent for a single stage combat unit and the overall balance was just right. BTW, the gun was absolutely flawless - no marks anywhere and nice and tight upper to lower fit. The "fit &finish" nazis would have no complaints. I want one now , but since I'm trying to finish building my SPR that won't happen anytime soon. Clyde Armory has them for $1,359 and I'm tempted but I need a scope for that SPR. |
| My younger brother has both, with the 6940 being new and unfired and the 6920 having about 300 rounds through it thus far. Next week he is bringing both over to my dads house so that my father and I can go over both with fine tooth combs and do some comparisons of brand new Colts next to our 25+ year old Pony's. Mostly we will be looking at how our well shot guns are wearing compared to new items. We will also be taking numerous photographs so that little brother will have some baselines to compare to as his rifles see more and more use. Yes, comparing SP1 bolts and carriers, etc to brand new ones may be a bit of apples/oranges, but only a very tiny bit. Besides, spending a day with dad, pouring over guns and manuals, without wives or kids to interrrupt is almost as good as range day. |

The problem with this is that it receives a LOT of heat. an Aimpoint should be fine but an Eotech might have some problems. Would be interested to see credible evidence that the EOTECH suffers from heat exposure in this application. I rather doubt it. I would doubt it too. |

Here are some crappy cell phone pics from awhile back. I've made some changes since these and I'm running an Aimpoint T1 with Troy rear sight, TangoDown PR4/VTAC LUSA for sling attachment among them. There's probably close to 1K rds. down the barrel now and never a single problem.

Here's a couple more of how I have it today, been changing some things around to save weight. Love the LMT SOPMOD but put the factory stock back on as its lighter. Went with ladders on all sides but the bottom in front of the FUG so if I use a wall or such as support it will protect the rails better. I'm also running a BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 medium latch charging handle and it is awesome. The bare spot of rail toward the front of the left side rail is for my Surefire X300. Its lighter and easier to install, when needed, than the G2LED in VTAC mount I was using.
