it stabilized the 190's pretty well, the 220's were a little oval-ish.  Will get some video next time I'm at the range

The above is correct, Sig HK style vert grip.  There were only two left on Rainier when I grabbed it, think they're discontinued.

Forend is V7 magnesium ultralight

Good stuff!

At those velocities, what range will the 110gr barnes still perform as designed?

The 110gr TacTX expands reliably down to 1300fps.

Relevant info:

Based on this, I did a little extrapolation, and with a MV of ~1900fps you end up with roughly 300yd before velocity will fall below 1300fps.

Trajectory is going to be your enemy at those ranges though

FYI, just used the V7 6.5" barrel to bag a mule deer at 200 yards with federal 120gr copper rounds.  pics tomorrow

I don’t want to hi-jack this thread but I do want to thank the OP for his help.  I just finished a .30 HRT with a 6.250” barrel and .120 handgun gas port.  225 gr. ELD-M bullets are going 1350 fps and 100% function.  Next is to step down to subs with the 225s and supers with 110 TTSX.  Your help made start-up a lot easier, thank you.

Happy to have helped.  I get some feedback through the site the articles are published on, but not a lot compared to stuff thats up on social media.  Feedback is always appreciated.

Combined with Dr Phil's various ammo minimum velocity expansion threshold data on 300blktalk.com, one can extrapolate what range you can expect expansion at, through such a short barrel.  Good info for  bullet selection

Not sure if this has been discussed yet .. but Sig now has a 300 rattler upper that can go on an existing AR lower - which elimates buffer tube and has an OAL when folded of 16.25" - which is shorter than the mpx.

Just thought I would share this as once I found out they were making an mcx upper that can go on a standard lower I was pretty excited as I didn't think it was possible.

I'm assuming the higher priced kak 4.75" was used in this testing? If so, how do you think their value line for the 4.75" would have tested?

Is the slr 5" barrel on their website the Veritas brand? They look similar and would be easier to buy barrel and handguard from one place.

I've never tested a KAK "value" versus their premium lineup, so my opinion is pure conjecture.  I'd say they probably wouldn't be far apart in performance up front.  IIRC the premium one is stainless steel, so accuracy should hold up longer, and the barrel wont rust if you go scuba diving with it.

Yeah the SLR is from Veritas.  I emailed SLR first, they let me know it was Veritas I had to talk with about sending out a T&E barrel
