So if this is for getting a quicker first shot(Weapon from standby to ready position)

Would it not be less work to keep the same mechanics and make a Raised(Repostioned) sight mount? Like to extend a rail up and over to the operator so when the weapon is raised into ready position, the sight is there without havingto hunch down and lean in to acquire a target through conventional sights?

The higher up you bring your scope the more accuracy you lose.

Well it's a good-looking part (from a plastics standpoint) and they spent big bucks  on the molds, so I wish them luck. It's a big world and there are allot of AR's out there and no 2 of use are the same. I'm sure they'll sell some of these as long as they get a good marketing campaign.

If I could try one before buying I'd probably give it some thought on my upcomming AR. Hell maybe in CA if there's enough of those people will laugh at the AR-15 ban and it will be legal again. A great big ugly limp cock or lima bean isn't that scary. hug.gif

I can see an use for the stock.  I shoot the way the stock is designed for.  I dig the heel of my Vltor into my collar bone and my stock half or all the way collapised.  This stock solve a lot of the problem for operator that shoot in this manner. I definitely see a market for it and specially for users that shoot for a living and don't care what the gun looks like.

I for one think it is ugly and I agree with Lumpy, I like the feel of that sharp triangle heel digging into my shoulder.  I will pass on that for now.

After some discussion with the company they are sending me one for review.  According to the last email I received they were tweaking the design/mold and would ship next week.  I'll keep you advised.

I have a bunch of stuff in the works and I'm waiting for school to let out so I can get some free time to write this stuff up.

Are these only for Colt/Military spec tubes or aftermarket tubes?

I'd think if they really are the real deal, they would be Colt tubes only?????

They make a universal and colt tube model as well.

Man, it doesn't seem like any of you guys took the time to check out the web site.

I also think there might be a place for this stock, but I can get a cav arms stock for $40.

According to their website, they make them for both dimensioned buffer tubes.

$89.99 for Colt/Milspec tubes
$79.95 for Universal/non-MilSpec tubes.

Intriged by fact someone spent good money to produce the Duostock molds, I took off the tail piece of an M93 and attached a forward grip to the M93 body in the most forward slot. An improvised strap and "volia" I had something that could mimic the Duostock.

Not sure what I thought of it but if you are only doing CQB then it might help some.

Several of us pitched in a few bucks to buy one for testing, and when we called to get it the owner sent us a couple.  Then we took 'em out to the range.

Unlike some, I don't care one way or the other what it looks like if it works, and it works.  I got to where I preferred shooting with it, though it damn sure took some time.  Frankly I'm not sure if I'm even carrying it the way they suggest, but I DO like it better than the standard-issue M-4 stock.

On the plus side, I like the way it rides against an Interceptor vest with the plates in.  Makes it very easy to pick up the sights quickly and doesn't seem to impede snap shots in any way.  Ultimately I think if you spend enough time training with it, even just doing dry-fires, you'd find that the shape of the duostock, or beanstock, or whatever you guys are calling it, lends itself well to kinesthetic shooting.  I like the hell out of the way it lets me pick up the sights AND point-shoot (or whatever the politically correct way of saying that is now) and I'm keeping it on there.

On the negative side, when shooting on the move, I personally found it more difficult to transition from strong side to weak side shooting.  Not significantly more difficult, but I did notice a difference and a couple of times it messed with me enough to get pissed about it.  Having said that, the only times it impacted my transitioning was when the stock was fully extended.  When collapsed and I transitioned there were no problems.  The fact that I had grip tape on part of the stock made it worse as well, and only one of the other two guys trying the stocks had any trouble transitioning, but still I thought I'd point it out.  It presented no difficulties when I transitioned from carbine to pistol.

I liked it with my red-dot on top,but haven't had the time to go shoot it with an ACOG yet.  One of the other guys trying it out with me has an EOTECH he's going to bring out to the range next time. The ACOG and the EOTECH are about the only thing we have left to try with it.  We've gone through most of the positions we commonly use, have shot it while advancing, retreating, moving laterally, etc. etc., and the only position I found I didn't like using it in was prone and roll-over prone.  The CQB applications were great.  Hopefully soon we'll pull 'em off and use them with sim-guns for some force on force exercises to see how they work in that environment.

As a sidebar, I think it's interesting to note that the reason I'm on here is because the owner of Duostock warned me about this thread when I called down there.  So, yes, I guess they are paying attention to what people say.  I have to say for me the whole function before form argument is pretty important.  Some of the early posts from different people, such as from easy610 and one of MarkM's early ones, seem pretty silly and uninformed, even if made in jest.  I have a hard time responding well to any supposed professional who would insinuate that he/she would avoid something based strictly upon appearance, even if it worked.  That's just asinine.  I don't give a shit what it looks like, if it's possibly going to help my guys out in a fight I'm all about it.  Anyway, just my two cents, and that was NOT an attempt to pick a fight with easy610 or MarkM, just making a point.

Anyway, I'm glad I found my way to this on-line community.  As soon as we get a chance to get the M-4s out for some simunition shooting I'll get back on here and let you know how the stocks do when there are people shooting back...

Nah, that link is fine.  Just a lot of people pimp their own there so we get used to it.

Thanks for the review, how did the 'rotating' from the ready position to firing position work?  As good as  it looks and is advertised?  Any problems with the bean snagging?

Well, although it is ugly, it might be worth a try.  The butt of a standard collapsible stock isn't exactly the most ergonomically designed thing out there.

I would worry about that stock slipping off, it would really suck if you have a larger cal. conversion,  masterkey, M203, looks like it could give you the old slap and break your jaw bone.

If you stick some of the pachmayr Pac-Skin rubber stuff to it, I guess it would work for 5.56 though.

Actually I have always wonder why the stock either collapsible or A1 or A2 didnt have a longer bottom portion- hell when I shoulder mine I always use the lowest part of the stock it self and every picture I see from Iraq has the operator holding up high anyway . I was trying to figure out a wire stock like the FN SAW has that flip out wire stock . Gotta go the doctor is ready now ...

Sorry it took me so long to get back on here.  Been busy as hell.  I didn't have any problems coming up from the ready to the firing position.  The only two problems I had was when I transitioned from strong side shooting to weak-side.  Part of that, though, was the way I had my sling rigged up and the fact that I had grip-tape on the lower part of the curve (it was drizzling when we were shooting and it was sliding around a bit on my Interceptor vest).  I'm really, really like it.  It's on my carbine from the Sheriffs Office right now; I haven't put one on my military rifle (I'm in a guard unit) because our armory NCOIC bitches that it doesn't fit into the storage racks correctly (I know, I know, typical deal).  A couple other guys in my unit are on tac teams on the civilian side and they're taking their stocks with them when they deploy (coming up pretty soon).  Other than that, I did have a little bit of trouble with my first model locking out in the extended position and not being too willing to collapse back down, but that was a prototype.  My new one doesn't give me any problems.  To me the stock doesn't really change my world when I don't have my armor on (though I still prefer it) but it sure makes a difference when I'm in full kit.  Wish I could tell you more.  All I can say is after I got used to it (which took a little while, to be fair) I don't want to go back.  Don't care what it looks like, the function way outweighs form.  If you have any more questions, just lemme know!

I don't think so, but if it somehow turned out to be true Duostock would be getting a serious jump in orders. I mean, who doesn't want to be like Al Pacino in Heat?

Maybe if Bruce Willis used on in Tears of the Sun (and mounted his Aimpoint the right way) people would buy it for that reason too.

I always find it interesting that whenever some brand new company with a brand new product comes to market, some first time poster always conveniently comes along and says "hey, I just bought one of these and it's great" along with a detailed review and a defensive attitude towards said new product.

What are you getting at here and who are you talking about? OK, I'll admit I'm not totaly sold on this thing either, but it sure seems like some of you are only printing the pics of protypes(the wood and green ones) taken from their R&D section to make the stock look goofier than it already does.  I guess if you need to make fun of things to make you feel better floats your boat, so be it.

It also seem people are making their comments based on what they read on this thread. I strongly suggest you check out the website, it might explain things better.

Anybody that thinks form comes second to function is on the wrong webpage.  The proof will come with how it works.  It does start to look like it is seeing action in the Spec Ops community. These guys can get almost anything they want for their weapons. Does anybody seriously believe they would endanger there life putting something on their weapon that doesn't give them an edge?  Especially as unconventional as it looks.

Gee, I wonder what it is about Duostock that prompts people to stop lurking and start commenting? We have several different posters in this thread with their comment count in the <10 range and oddly enough, every single one of their comments is in support of the Duostock (or informing us about this stock).

Ease up on the shills guys... if it is a worthy product, word of mouth will get the job done just fine.

Well Bart old buddy...

I have over 10 hits now, does that mean I may have  something useful to say now?
I guess not, with 2039 hits on ar-15.com, 1894 hits on TheHighroad.org, 1542 hits on thefiringline.com within the past 3-4 years, I would never think to argue with an expert such as yourself.  When do you find time to even shoot the rifle?

OK, having said that, The first thing I said was that I'm not totally sold on the stock either and the last thing I said was almost exactly the same sentiment as yours regarding that the proof will come out on how well it works. I am no shill for the product. Ijust don't think it is fair to make judgements on photos taken out of context from the website.

But I guess since the only thing that counts is activity on the web as expertise with a rifle, I'll just shut up now and go shoot a few rounds instead.

Where I have I ever suggested that your post count is related to whether or not what you have to say is useful? The only thing a post count shows is how often you talk. For example, it shows in your case that the first post you ever made was about the Duostock - just like every post after that. Another thing it is useful for is identifying shills... you see since they only talk up their specific product or business, they generally have low post counts. It is also a little unusual when so many people who have never felt a need to discuss AR15 products before are suddenly inspired to register and post by the discussion of one product.

So if you aren't a shill for the product, why would you assume my comments were directed at you? You certainly aren't the only poster in Duostock threads to fit the description I made above. For that matter, all I did was ask some questions. Why so sensitive?

However, since you brought it up and you DO fit that description, maybe you could answer the questions. From your reply, I gather it was just the whole unfairness of the situation that inspired you to register and make all 11 of your posts over several months to the Duostock threads? You don't have any association with Duostock or the people who make it, you were just inspired by your sense of fairplay to defend them? Tell me, considering the amount of issues that get discussed here on any given day, what particular injustice against the Duostock struck you so keenly that you felt the need to comment on that?
