My first thread went to archives so I thought you might want an answer to the question.

The answer is YES!

Me too. I was going to comment on your Instagram. I figure here is more appropriate.

These just happened to show up in my in-box.

It's been very hard to keep quiet about my collaboration with Nodak Spud to build the 100% version of my lower!

I just got the go ahead so here you are!

congrats on getting this to market.  big thumbs up to nodak for making these as well, always innovating.

That would probability get me to buy one of the uppers. I wish it didn't have a buffer tube in the back and instead had a mount like the sig mcx does but still it looks really good.

OMG! I thought the same thing. It needs a different lower.

This is awesome! Any idea on pricing or availability?

Having the traditional buffer tube threads gives us the potential for sales to people that might just build it with an AR15 upper.

When I get some free time I'm going to make up a folding stock that looks like the original AR-180 style.

As someone else said any idea on pricing and availability? I'd be interested in the folding stock as well if you get around to it.

That is freaking AWESOME!!!! I’m absolutely in love with that lower, I want one so bad!

I wonder why Nodak doesn’t put the AUTO marking on this AR180 lower or their other lowers for that matter, I think they would all look so much more ascetically pleasing if the did.

Defiantly interested. Emailed NDS to be added to info list.

I wonder if brownells will make a more gi looking upper.

Drawing a blank on the correct model name (Dawoo?), but would replacing the buffer tube with a rifle size and adding the Taiwan M16 stock give it the original look?

The Daewoo K2 stock might work but they are impossible to find.  Daewoo guys have been looking into modifying FAL stocks to replace the ban era thumbhole stocks.

I was wondering if they make an air soft version that could be foam filled like someone did with the M66 builds...l

EDIT: looked online and it seems they don’t make an air soft version...

LOL. you or they couldn't even go just one extra step and mark it safe semi "auto".

so stupid! Way to go

@mike_NDS

Also, did you try and get Brownells involved with the project? As is sales will be very small IMO. That could change if it was Brownells marked.

Would be very cool if the model was BRN-180 and had Brownells name on it. WORK IT OUT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.

That would be funny but I’d bet a lot of money that they’re not going to do that.

I can’t wait to get one of these new Nodak lowers! Now it gives me an excuse to get a BRN-180 upper

While this is close to accurate I would say that one thing holding many of my readers back from shooting and enjoying their original guns is the fear of breaking a part that is hard to locate. It took me 3+ years to build my Costa Mesa AR180S and a substantial amount of cash. In a couple months you could build a BRN180S like the one I have and order everything you want. No endless searches online and at gunshows. You are also free to customize as you see fit. You also wouldn't be cutting up original parts to build it. Would I like a more traditional looking version? Yes and I look forward to building one.

Could have, should have, would have...........been great.

I see an AR-180 and a messed up AR-15.

My opinion means nothing. I agree in that. But this "thing" needs to go back to the drawing board.

Of course there are  limitation in what can be done, but wow is it a miss.

I will give you credit on the AR-180B copy, you did a damn nice job. This however

I know, I know..... If you do not like it then do not buy it.....will be mantra.

Question: I seem to recall having read that the mag catch on the 18 differs from an ar15 because there were issues witb magazine retention or presentation with an ar15 type mag catch.  Since the ar15 catch obviously works on the ar15 family, is the shorter mag well the culprit in why the ar15 catch didnt work for the ar18?

You're not providing constructive criticism, just negativity.  There isn't a big enough market for what you want or it would've already been filled.

This lower looks awesome!  I'll be one of the ones using it on AR uppers.

Your view or my view the market is incredibly small. To believe either view will be very profitable is ludicrous.

The NDS AR-180B copy is a work of art. The BRN-180 lower deserves the same level of thought.
Is it too much to ask for something like this? Is it out of line to complain about not getting something like this?

Which one would you want the bottom one or one based on the top one?
I dare OP to add a poll to this thread asking this question.@bigrix

Mods, can we get this thread moved to the appropriate location?  This is the AR-15 / M-16 retro thread.  Not Armalite AR-18, or -180 or whatever else that series of rifles is/was named.

If worried about parts, then why pursue some oddball half breed that will be unsupported in 5 or 10 years, just like the original?

You just NAILED it, homey.

The funny thing is... and it's truly hilarious... IF Brownells simply did the right thing and 1:1'd the design and put it on top of the already existing NDS-18... it wouldn't be unsupported anymore- it would be supported!

Instead, much time and electrons are devoted to the question of, "What is the best way to fix this slap-trap abortion of a rifle?" which leads full-circle to the comment above- Wow! What a "work of art" it is to have the correct part! What does the group think about the potential creation of another wrong part that bears more cosmetic resemblance to the correct part?

Did we forget that the solution to wrong-upper is "fix the upper..." not "invent wrong lower" when both correct AR-15 and correct AR-180 pattern receivers are part of our current reality?

This doesn't even account for the fact that the Brownell's offering bears more similarity to the SIG MCX than the original AR-180... and for non-retro/ performance guys/ piston heads that want a one-stamp, suppressed solution that won't gas them out, the poor design of the handguards and their attachment/ removal makes perm'ing a can and even some QD mounts a NO GO.

It's all so wacky and weird...

Interesting......

Running >3:1 wanting a design more like original and most opposed to something like an AR with a buffer tube capability.

Wow, I did not expect that. My opinion does not matter, do the opinions of others also not matter?
