Interesting guy and I really like the scope. He had a prototype 1-6x scope there on one of his Robinson Arms guns, it was really cool. |

It's a CMMG piston upper 1:7 twist the lower is all CMMG but I put it together, CMMG free float handguard, MAID grip, MBUIS front and rear, the stock is Magpul too I just don't recall the name. I love this gun about 1,500 rounds through it so far not a single problem. I know it's a small pic... I will post a better larger pic tomorrow P.S just joined the fourm but I have been lurking for about a year GREAT SITE! Got my Adams 5.45 x 39 upper yesterday and mounted on S & W Lower with RRA 2 stage trigger and heavy hammer spring.
Couldn't wait to take to range today and put 100 rounds of Russian surplus thru it without missing a stroke...CP Mags. Shot at 50 yards from a bipod and 4x Millet Scope and grouped about 1 inch. I think the accuracy potential would even be better with a bench vice and better ammo. I need to invest in a lead sled or something like it to do a true test of accuracy using quality ammo. Inpected rifle for crud build-up when I got home. Piston carbon wiped right off with a rag. The bolt & carrier area looks pretty clean with only a small amount of red primer sealer on the bolt face. My S & W upper has corrosion on the bolt shaft. That's my fault for not dissassembling for cleaning. I may leave this baby uncleaned for a while to see if there is any sign of corrosion. The chamber looks fairly dirty and I'm wondering how many rounds can be fired without sticking in chamber. Every AR that I own has some sort of problem with Laquered or polymer coated shells sticking in the chamber after about 100 rounds fired. That's why I moved to the dark side with AK's to shoot this stuff but the accuracy sucks. I think I'm going to shoot several hundred rounds thru it this upper to see how long it will run without sticking problem. Waiting for an Ergo Z Float Rail to arrive...paid about $145.00 for it. I think I'm really going to grow to like this upper. If this sucker works out, I may invest in AA piston kits for some other AR's. http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc338/esource2000/Adams545x3906-11-10.jpg Got the Ergo Z Float Rail today...this one is 7 3/16..they also have a 7" http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc338/esource2000/Adams545x3906-12-10-1.jpg |

Just finished this build. 6.8 SPC with Osprey under the hood. Havnt shot it yet, hopefully the piston will not beat up the mounting block. I had to shave some off the oblong black part so it would clear the barrel nut. Otherwise its very loose back and forth when you tip the gun up like its supposed to be.

I've got a Colt M16A1 with Bushy 11.5" hbar 1/7 barrel,GG&G modular rails,KX3,etc and was concerned I was going to have to change out my front sight too besides a set of new rails. Obviously, the ARES kit alleviates the need to do that. Anyone else running a piston kit on their A1's? If so,what kit did you use? Clint |
