I have this 20" rifle length complete BCM factory upper. I paired with my own built A2 lower with standard rifle length buffer spring and buffer and I'm having FTE (one round at time). I did tried different ammo (55, 62 grain), magazines, replaced the buffer spring and buffer with the same results. The only way I can make it function is when I switched to a carbine lower. I have this VLTOR A5 buffer and spring (Green) but, I'm not sure if this are compatible with an A2 system. I'm thinking about using a Odin works adjustable rifle length buffer and Tactical Spring rifle length buffer spring (Green). Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks |

Yep, would dare to guess either gas leak, which may be at the key to top of carrier and not up at the FSB, or have a problem with FCG in the lower/not having the hammer tail clearance that when the Carrier comes back over it, tail of the hammer is binding against the disco as the hammer passes over it (tail of hammer may need to be shortened). Both of the above are an easy solve, and if you need to weed it down to such, then try to swap in a know working B/C to see if it solves the problem. |

When you say FTE, is this a fail to extractor or fail to eject? It would help to know which one you are experiencing so we can come up with a possible solution. There are 8 cycles of operation: Feeding, Chambering, Locking into Battery, Firing, Unlocking from Battery, Extracting the empty case from the chamber, Ejecting the empty case out of the firearm, Recocking the hammer. A Fail to Extract is when the empty case is left in the chamber and the bolt carrier unlocks and fully cycles the bolt carrier to the rear, then the bolt carrier goes forward and strips the new live round off the magazine, pushing the new live round up the feed ramp where it gets stuck due to impacting the empty casing that was left in the chamber. Generically there are 2 Fail to Ejects that are common: 1. The first one is after the gun fires, the bolt unlocks from battery, extracts the empty case from the chamber, but won't go back far enough to allow the empty case to get pushed out the ejection port. 2. The second one is after the gun fires, the bolt unlocks from battery, the empty case is extracted from the chamber, gets pulled all the way to the rear, but the empty case will not get pushed out the ejection port, this is considered a short stroke. A simple test for this is to load one live round into a magazine, insert the magazine into the magazine well and confirm it is locked in by tugging downward and it shouldn't release from the magazine well, then manually cycle the action to allow it to load the single live round into the chamber and the bolt carrier assembly to lock into battery, then fire the gun, the gun should fire then unlock from battery, the bolt carrier should extract the empty case from the chamber, and the bolt carrier assembly should cycle all the way rearward and lock back on the empty magazine, of which the empty case should also be ejector. Mainly what you are trying to see is if the bolt carrier assembly is cycling all the way to the rear to lock back on the empty magazine. If the bolt carrier doesn't go back far enough to lock back on the empty magazine, this can be due to several things but the most common are friction or lack of gas pressure unless something is physically out of spec.
