Stopped by Walmart this morning to kill some time while my wife was at the chiropractor. Walked through sporting goods to see ammo availability. Noticed they had several boxes of 350 Legend. I remember seeing something about it but never really looked into it. Would 350 legend be good to go if I already have a 300bo?

It would depend on the (if any) cartridge restrictions in your state for hunting. I have both .300BO and .350L but I have no choice but the .350 as bottlenecked cartridges are a no-go in MI for deer hunting.

Ohio and a couple other states allow deer hunting with rifles with straight walled cases and a diameter of 357. That is the reason the 350 legend exists.

.350 Legend is a straight wall round.

It’s basically a semi auto 357 mag/max.  Maybe a little more juice depending on ammo. I like it, and use it for deer hunting.

What kind of rifle?

Home made 18”, 16”, 12.5” pistol and 10.5 pistol.
The 16 inch faxon rifle barreled gun is my go to.
I just bought barrels.

I've been using my .300bo for hunting the last couple years. Only restriction we have in Alabama is it has to be centerfire cartridge. Only reason it really caught my notice was I saw it at Walmart.

I checked Walmart today and got two boxes of WIN FMJ for $8.97/box, I wish they had more, just a little more than brass!

What is the upshot of the chamber diameter controversy? Is it still chambered for .355 or did it change to .358?
I would be interested in making a suppressed gun if it didn't require a lot of fiddling with it.

It’s .355.

Hey y'all, new to the forums and groups here. I'm in Ohio and just t heard about the 350L recently.

1.) I have a SIGM400 chambered in 5.56, from my understanding, to change to the 350L, all that's needed is a 350L barrel and mags(shaved or CMMG mags), correct?

I would like to build a full upper but with the season around the corner I'd like to be able to hunt before I piece together a full upper.

Thanks a million y'all!

Don't use 223 mags. You can modify them all you want but they do not work. You may be able to get some of the rounds to feed but why risk it when hunting.

If your gun takes regular ar15 type barrels then yes that would be all you need. The barrel and mags specific to the Legend.

You are handicapping yourself @ 7-1/2", but if you don't plan on taking longer shots sobeit.

This, but I'm wondering how much velocity he really loses. My 12" is flinging 165gr FTX at 2050fps with 25gr LilGun. If I push it, can hit almost 2000 with 180gr powerpoints. IIRC a 24" barrel is only getting an extra 200fps for twice the length... but then hang a 7" silencer off it and give it to the wife who's 5'2" and she's going to slap you.

The FTX with excellent handloads is almost MOA. I honestly don't feel like putting that much effort into them, and run just under 2moa. Plenty accurate for a 125/150yd gun, that will realistically be shot at 75yds or less, probably less than 35 from the stand. Some of the lazy loads shot just as good. Everything goes to the same POI.

Basically just skip trimming, leave burr in flash hole, don't bother sorting out the short cases. I just trim the ones that are too long.

Well, the 350 Legend is essentially a rimless 357 Maximum, and myself having a 10" 357 Maximum I can just barely hit 1,800 with a 180 from a 10" Contender pistol.  I'd expect a 7-1/2" to shoot about 100 fps slower give or take.  I know a guy who has a 357 Maximum revolver with a 7-1/2" barrel and he tops out at around 1,600 with a 180 but there is the barrel/cylinder gap that accounts for some loss in that platform.  The Legend does operate at a higher pressure than the Max in the AR platform so we do have to allow for that, so it isn't apples to apples.  I would like to know and hopefully he will clock his 7-1/2" and share.

I get 2080 fps out of my 14 inch 1 in 10 twist glfa barrel using a compressed load of aa1680 under hornady 200 grain ftx's sized .307 and 1 inch groups at 100 yards.
Getting 1 inch at 75 yards using my 215gc cast bullets power coated over 22.8 grains H-4198 at 1675 fps.
It hammers deer out to 200 yards easy with the 200 ftx.

Finally got it complete, no shots yet.  I wanted a 10.5” barrel but they werent in stock anywhere and with 300blk impossible to find and the deer season quickly approaching I grabbed the 7.5”.
According to the video where they chopped a barrel down inch by inch he was still getting @ 1900 fps at 7” with the 150gr deer season round that I plan on using.

Most of my shots where I hunt are around 50-75 yds, 150 would be the maximum for sure.

@ 150 yards you'd be running <1,500 fps.  What type of bullet and what do they state is minimum velocity for expansion?

Only part of MI. From about 20 miles north of Grand Rapids and the UP are good to go for bottleneck rifle cartridges.

I just read this thread because I'm considering getting a .350 L.
