I shot my a2 for first time in several years with my 62 grain plinking load avg fps is 3123.2. I was 4" low @ 100 yards. Im rusty and dont remember the a2 sight system. When I zeroed it back then, I used m855 with the military a2 target rear sight is on 8/3. Is it 4" low because of my ammo and I need to rezero it? Or do I have the rear sight set incorrect? |

Not an expert on the subject, but the 8/3 puts the rifle on a 300 yard zero. At 100 yards, you should be around 3" high. This video shows some alternative ways to use the sight  M16A2 - Improved Battlesight Zero |

Therefore, to duplicate the military battlesight zero on a 100-yard range: * Rear sight: 8/3 (bottom setting) * Small aperture * Adjust the front sight until your group centers about 1.9 inches above the point of aim at 100 yards. Looks like the front needs to come up 6”. So 5 clicks down……or a short front sight post. If you’re using the standard military zero procedure (or its 100-yard equivalent), use: * Center hold * Small aperture * Front sight tip centered on the target * Focus on the front sight |
