Both are the Tasco branded ones. Found a second 16x for a .308 AR not long ago. Found it used at a yard sale for $20 |

I have several 6x and they’re decent, I use them for hunting, but the 10x HD is better glass and turrets and LOW made.
Had the big green R not fukd up the original 6.8 it would have taken off better. Would be nice to walk into a shop and buy a bolt action in 6.8II but that ship sailed shortly after release. I need to find the magazines I have about ARs and the history/ introduction of the 6.8 to SF. Some good stuff in them. |

From what I was able to gleam, the mount and rings in this photo were the A.R.M.S. #19 and #21 stanag rings with a height of 1.150” from top of the rail to the center of the optic (per directly from ARMS). |

View Quote If companies gear up to make some 400 Legends they'd have the right bolt face, so would just take a barrel. The Howa Mini looks interesting. There are a lot of bolt rifles coming on the market because of the straightwall hunting states and the most popular cartridges are made to fit the AR magwell so maybe we'll see a renaissance. |

If they shot well I think I’d want one. |

My older version with 18.5” barrel model 7 is in 7-08. It’s a good combo too. The older I get I like rifles that are enough but not excessive for a whitetail or carrying. My 6.8 is a fairly light build too. A bolt and barrel from he who shall not be named on this site. Almost bought an on sale Wilson when they still had options but the lighter stuff was always out of stock. |

View Quote He who shall not be named has retired and the product lines were sold to another vendor, I was told by site mgt that it's ok to name them now since the offending business no longer exists. Part of the drop in interest in 6.8 over the years was that one of the top vendors for 6.8 barrels and some other neat projects couldn't be discussed here. Which is kind of a shame. The bolt and barrel extension that they designed and had made to fit 6mm BR into the AR15 could have been a game changer, but it couldn't be discussed, now it's like it no longer exists. |

so, the "he shall no longer be named" is OUT OF THE BUSINESS and we can get back to discussing a kickass caliber used in ar platforms.
when can I get MADE IN USA fmj? getting tired of high priced Hornady ammo. |

The deuce you say.

I’ve been enjoying shooting mine lately. Just built one for the first time. It shot like hell till I figured out the Bbilt was the issue. Now it shoots like a dream. I need to take the 5X off and put on a good optic and see what kind of groups it actually can do.
I should have built one years ago. One of my friends tried talking me into it and I passed. |

There are a lot of interesting hunting spc ii spec rounds to be had from cavity back bullets and Druid hill armory if one doesn’t reload. |

I hear good things about the older SA brass, especially for wildcatters. A 12.5” variant has been catching my attention.

I have been a 6.8SPC user since 2011ish, maybe a bit before or after, can't remember exactly.
We switched to 6.8SPC after losing a number of coyotes during calling contests, costing us quite a bit of money in placings. We started with the 6.8SPC and Bison barrels, 110gr VMAX or the S&B 110gr PTS. They worked phenomenal and we went a number of contests without losing a single coyote. Then the PTS supply ran out for us and it SEEMED like the VMAX bullet construction changed and went more Varmint, we lost a few coyotes. I grabbed some XM68GD 90gr Gold Dot ammo on sale and it worked and worked well. But was so hard to find that I began looking for alternatives. Barnes TSX and TTSX didn't seem to open up reliably enough in coyotes, lost a few coyotes with those too. Then I found Cavity Back Bullets. Their 105gr MKZ is an incredible bullet. Opens up reliably, and fast. Even on coyotes and other small thin skinned animals, as well as big whitetail deer. From my 16" Wilson barrel I'm getting them going about 2700-2750fps. Hit's like a hammer. I have 500 90gr Gold Dots I'm saving for something but don't really know what. Ideally I'd buy a bunch of Starline 6.8SPC brass and make some 'new' XM68GD. I need to do that. Anyways since getting into 6.8SPC I've tried several barrel makers. Wilson Combat, Bison Armory, AR Performance. All of those have been great. My brother has tried a few 'commercial' uppers/barrels with less luck. Right now I have a 16" Wilson barreled upper and a 12.5" ARP barreled upper. The groups I've been getting with both of them with 110gr BTHP and the 105gr MKZ are stunning. I have several hundred rounds of the 110gr VMAX factory ammo squirreled away for a 'what if'. 6.8SPC hits so damn hard and does so well on animals, I can only imagine what it would do on the bipedal animals running around certain parts of the world. Also I have been using bolts from LWRCI which are fully supported bolt faces that I feel are stronger. Whether thats true or not I don't know, But I DO know I was trying to send some Cutting Edge 82gr Raptors over 3000fps from my 16" barrel and if there was ever a time I was getting close to blowing a gun up in my face, that was it. I couldn't fit anymore AA2200 into the case and was compressing the powder (ball powder btw) so much that it was bulging the case shoulder OUT. Hammering the forward assist to get them to chamber wasn't smart, shooting 5 of them and wondering why it was kicking like a 30-30 should have been a clue. I got them to 3000fps alright. Sometimes I wonder what the PSI was. |
