| When it comes to 7.62x39 chambered piston uppers, is Primary Weapons Systems the only game in town? I'm wanting to build a 7.62x39 SBR that I will be shooting suppressed and unsuppressed. I'd like the barrel to be about 11" or 12". Are there any other manufacturers to consider other than PWS? |

| Funny enough, I recently had to modify some Adams Arms piston BCGs for a customer who wanted to use his PSA KS-47 lower with his piston uppers. It turned out pretty well and gave me some ideas about tinkering with such things... maybe a PWS upper with an AK mag lower like the KS-47. |

| I took the 7.62x39 PWS MK111 Mod 2-M upper out for a test run today. I used a Colt AR15 lower with a PWS recoil spring and H2 buffer that I took out of my 14.5" 5.56x45 PWS rifle. I fired 30rds of Igman 123gr FMJ, 20rds of STV 124gr FMJ and 20rds of Wolf 125gr FMJ copper jacket. The ejection was very weak and I ended up with about eight short strokes that caused failures to eject and/or failures to feed. So, I definitely need to try an H1 buffer. Unfortunately, I failed to bring one. These failures are completely my fault, but I did learn something. I'll bring an H1 buffer the next time I'm able to shoot. |
