Interesting (to me anyway) bullet drop results. Ruger Patrol in 5.56mm with a 16” barrel. Zeroed at 100m POA/POI. At 300m I must hold a bit high on my 400 BDC setting to hit POA/POI. Optic is a Vortex 1-8x24 LPVO. Rifle is suppressed. Optic is most likely calibrated in yards but I use meters and figure out how to make it work. Ammo is 5.56mm 77gr OTM factory load. Sort of figured the BDC would be a bit closer but with so many variables in bullets and barrels it is what it is. 100m zero Attached File |

| Center of Orange dot/ dot was aiming point for 100 and 300m shots. Suppose to give a 100/200m zero per Vortex. Figured a little high would help the BDC……not so much. |

OP: What did Vortex or more realistically their website show for the BDC dimensions? And TBH, why are you jumping around between meters and yards? Why not pick one and be done with it? All you are doing is introducing errors into your shooting and use of the scope. (Hint use YARDS BTW). PS: Which 77OTM are you shooting? Brand? Ok. Resolved by different bullet and zero distance Moved POA/POI impact zero to 200 actual YARDS. Achieved that. Changed bullet to lighter 62gr Hornady Black Shot at 300 YARDS using the BDC holdover. From POA my POI is about 3” low. That is workable. |

Would have been interesting to see how it played out with the 77gr zeroed at 200 yds |

Got it zeroed with something usable for now. That said I will check the 77s using a 200Y zero and see if the hold overs are close….. in the fall. |

BDC is like socialism: great in theory, never works in the real world. A mil reticle and good ballistic data > BDC reticle every day of the week. MOA works as well, I just prefer base ten. Turrets need to match the reticle, as it's not 1993 anymore, and a mil dot reticle and 1/4 moa click turrets is pants on head retarded. |
