I'm going mad trying to research the different carbine builds used by different units in the 90s. So I think I'm just going to build the rifle that I want, and retroactively match it to an issued rifle, if possible. I have an M16A2 marked PSA lower, which is currently a 20" A2 clone. I never shoot it, because I'm not a fan of the configuration, so I'd like to give it new life as a carbine. Were there any carbines used by any units that had an A2 upper, an Aimpoint Comp M2, a 14.5" pencil barrel, and CAR stock with skinny handguards? |

Finding specific parts for a build is hard. Instead just figure out what esoteric historical gun resembles the gun you already have and BOOM free clone! |
| USAF GUU-5P is the answer. Basically an issued mixmaster made up from whatever parts happened to be lying around. Only rules I've been able to discern are they all have fixed carry handle uppers (A1 or A2, no flat tops) and they all have 14.5in barrels (pencil or M4). |
