Just wanted to share my 180b. I recieved it in a trade a few days ago and started surfing here to see what could be done. The predator rail looks great but I don't want to drop that kind of money on a rail system and still have to modify it. I had parts laying around so I decided to modify a standard AR free float tube to fit the 180. The tube just barely clears the gas system but the end result looks pretty cool. I had to build a new nut to fit the 180 and its only on there with a very light press fit until I do somemore work, but already it seem stable and I did some test firing just to check function. Obviously everything will need to be re-anodized when I'm done but I wanted to share some pics. Next I will thread the barrel but here in NY I will be stuck with an aftermarket muzzle break. Oh well, it already looks better:

Let's not get into the trigger issue again, christ we see that every time someone posts a pic of a broad holding a gun. It's just a picture, enjoy it for what it's worth, besides I'm sure everyone that saw the pic said the same thing as you, we just didn't have to type it, like your educating us or something. I think the guy was just trying to show off his smoke pole for the rest of us anyways.

The adapter is machined from 6061-T651 Aluminum. Anodized black. comes with a stainless replacement bolt. $35 at the StormWerkz website. This is the type 1 for Ace brand fixed and folding stocks. the upcoming type 2 will be made for Ar-15 stocks that require a threaded socket. Feel free to email me. [email protected] |

OK, Ace uses 2 forms of attachments. there is the type that uses (2) 10-32 bolts and the other is the kind that attaches like an ar-15 with a 1 1/16-16 threaded tube. the type 1 adapter is for the kind that uses the 10-32 bolts. the original skeleton fixed and folding types. The type 2 will not be out til around the end of April as I am going out of town(Assam,India) from the 4th to the 18th of April. [email protected] |
Assam, India? That's a looooooong way for take out!  Your type 1 will then be able to mount any of the stocks that ACE makes for the 2 bolt adapter. To be clear, we're talking about: AKFX 9.5" Long (L)..........$64.95 AKFX 8.5" Standard (S)..........$64.95 AKFX 7.6" Super Short (SS)..........$64.95 Are there any other non-AR ACE stocks that would fit? Glad to help! Hmmmmmmmm, Looks good. I think I like the ACE stocks...rather than a the AR entry stock I was planning. Hey, would you happen to have any "wide angle" pictures of an 180B with your adapter and an ACE stock? I noticed you have a pair of close-ups. How about a shot of the ACE shorty stock? Thanks for the other pics! Hep EDITED TO ADD:Is there a provision for a sling loop on the adapter? Or is there an ACE product, like a spacer? |

I wish I was a better photographer but here are a couple more shots. I didnt add a swivel stud as I didnt even think about it. Ordered one for me. Thanks Josh (I am the guy in Kenai)..:). Now I gotta order a stock....can you get a deal on them? With the baby on the way wife is really watching my spending. She does not want to cut into the pink baby clothing budget (first girl on the way next month). |

Sure! You need to dremel off the tips of the spring guides.....basically, the "cones" come off. The included instructions are pretty vague but with the manual to refer to, no problems. The rest is pretty straight forward; taking off the handguards, etc. Got it. Thanks

I don't think I will be working on ambi safeties. I have quite a few irons in the fire at the moment for the 180's which I won't reveal at this time . I have managed to drop the price on the www.stormwerkz.com though by streamlining my processes. [email protected] |

The Eo reticle is dead center and great. I can't wait to get it out to the range! The YHM riser brings it to the PERFECT spot! Great product. Hey guys, it's been a while. :) Anyone ever come up with any more ideas on covering the gap behind the bolt handle? (and still be able to charge the weapon, of course.) I had an idea to use a forward mounted charging handle, to be used with a modified handguard, that would use a rod going back through the trunnion by the guide rods to push the carrier back and charge the weapon. The existing charging handle would be removed and the slot for it in the side of the receiver then being closed by welding on a small peice of sheet steel.

So no reliability issues with the 16" barrel? Who can do the work properly? You guys just disrupted my whole collection. I thought I was happy... didn't need to do any acquiring right now... And now this! But let me ask you this. I have a Ruger Mini-14 stainless with a Choate folder (yes, I know). It's sole purpose is to be cabled up tight under the back seat of my pickup truck. I've had to do all sorts of adjusting, re-learning and purchasing new mags, etc. If I had an AR180B in place of the Mini, I could just use my AR mags. But with the "lack of dust cover and no chrome lining", do you think the AR180B would be a good truck gun to replace the mini, or is the stainless rifle better? One contribution I'd like to offer for fellow lefties - I see that ambi safeties don't work. BUT Olympic Arms makes a REVERSIBLE safety that fits on either side as it's got the grooves machined on both sides. As a bonus, they don't cost much more than a standard safety, and not nearly as much as an Ambi! I don't know for sure that it would fit, but I DO know for a fact that one fits the AR10 (which I was also told can't have Ambi safeties because it's wider too). I will keep an eye out for surplus. Probably would cost too much to import from SIG in Switzerland. The cost to make a mold and do pressure injection would be costly, I assume. If I could do photoshop, I would graft the SIG stock to the AR180B. Thanks Josh ! |
