The brace is pretty stinking heavy. Before I added the bace, I took it out and shot it with the buffer only and was really surprised about how easy it was to shoot like that. So…I kept the KAK because it is longer than a standard buffer and wrapped it in paracord, it shoot perfectly fine like that.

Here is a 5.56 I built using a 10" Rainier match barrel and it sure is fine. I have a Seekins lower on VLTOR upper with a NiB BCG and Seekins BAR.

Yeah I had the same reaction to the sig brace which led to me selling it and parting out my 12.5. Recently though with all the sales, and increase in pitol pics I read up on the thordsen/caa combo and that looks like the ticket. Will rebuild it in about 2 weeks when I get back home and throw up a review and some pics when I do.

All that's left to do is install an IWC QD socket into the handguard, but the mother is on so tight I'm leaving it for another day.  I damn near lost my fingernails trying to remove the HG as is.    I'm hoping to get to the range with it this weekend - I have an H buffer in it right now and will also take along standard and H2 buffers for tuning.

I'm planning on leaving this one iron sights only - if I decide to RDS it later I'd probably swap out the DD BUIS with a folding one, probably my usual Hahn.  I don't mind FSBs with red dots, but not fixed rears.

Magpul did a great job on that HG. Looks great.

I found that the SB15 weighs as much as my  Magpul ACSL (12 oz) , its onlky heavy if your comparing it to a m4 stock or no stock at all. I trimmed  about 1" from the botttom of each flap to lighten it up and it feels fantastic now

Well after reading all these posts I had to try it too. Found an Adams EVO 11.5 pistol for a fair price and changed it around for me.

So far shoots great. I'm a lefty so I added a Troy mag release and a BCM ambi charging handle.
LOL I'm sure this is the first of more to come.

You're a new member with low post count.  The images are there, they just have to be "approved" by other members.  You'll outgrow that eventually.

It's a product of new mystery members spamming the site.

I purchased the santan when it first came out and put it on my 12.5

It ended up being looser than any lower/upper combo I have ever felt or owned. ended up re-selling it. Food for thought, this was with a vltor though but also tried it with a stag and PSA upper and Spikes, all with the same result.

For those of you stating you cant afford it...BUDGET BUILD $584.00

This can be done if you are on a budget, you really need to pay attention to specials, and deals posted on Slickguns, EE, and randomly check all sources of whatever it is you are looking for. It just takes a little footwork.

There is really nothing to it.

I took it outside and put down a base coat of green.  While it was drying I walked around the yard and picked up random leaves, threw those on the gun and then sprayed some tan.

Start to finish took about 10 minutes.

My favorite piece of the build is the buffer tube. It is by Black Creek Precision. The fit is extremely tight, I had to use silicone spray and a rubber mallet.

Spikes Lower

PSA 8.5" Upper

CMMG LPK with JP springs

Redfield Counterstrike

But the actual kudos goes to everyone who posted in this thread.

Snip

That's the strangest front sight I've ever seen!

It's the dpms mangonel front sight
I had it in my parts bin already from a long time ago, its mainly there to have something to aim with while I break it in and save up some more fun money.
I believe it's one of the earliest folding front sights.
It's other claim to fame? is that it will work either same plane or on a gas block rail.

I'm still deciding on magpul folders or maybe HK style irons.
