Link to the original thread https://www.ar15.com/forums/AR-15/AR-RPK-Build-Pictures-Ideas/118-782670/ Here is my new build * Poverty Pony lower w/ Gray Market Research reset trigger (not installed yet) * might move up to a A5 buffer tube and a Tubbs flatwire spring * Upper is a billet Troy that PA had on sale for $30 I think. * YHM diamond FF quad rail * Daniels Defense 18" 2sw rifle length CHF barrel if found on gunbroker for $210 plus shipping, new old stock. * I have a superlative arms rifle length piston kit, but I could not fit it under the handguard. I will see how well the gas tube holds up and change as needed. * Vortex 5X and fastfire red dot I had sitting around. Had to buy a cheap mount to help with eye relief. If it doesn't work well enough, I will remove the rear sight. * Still deciding if I want to run a flash hider or a break. Either way I plant o run my rugged suppressor on it. The Quattro lower seems like a good fit for this type of build. Attached File Attached File When shooting prone I really like ambidextrous controls. The Quattro lowers have the ambi bolt hold open I like. If you don't want the quad stack lower, look at Griffin, ADM, LWRC and SilencerCo ambi lowers. |

Vortex 5X and fastfire red dot I had sitting around. Had to buy a cheap mount to help with eye relief. If it doesn't work well enough, I will remove the rear sight. |

I have a similar handguard that I was thinking about using for a RPK build… but it needs a longer barrel! 22-24” is what you need to really be like the RPK. I get the utility of the 18”, but… |

You inspired me to throw some spare parts together. This isn't an appropriate barrel but I'll be on the hunt for one. The stock has a bit of a PKM vibe so I like that. Attached File |

Mine has the amazon carry handle as well. I even use it as a side grip when shooting while standing, does well. February 26, 2025 |

I really just bought it for the looks, same as the MG-42 style FH, but it works well for what I use it for. I don't think I'll ever try it on an overwatch situation. I hope.

My issued A4 clone is filling this role until I can build a dedicated rifle. It has a HBAR so I figured why not throw my FRT in it. It works just fine how it is, but I plan on getting a 9-13 Harris bipod for it. I have a D60 for it, but 30rd mags are a lot easier to carry and change.

How are you guys attaching m60 style bipods. I like the close-to-muzzle attachment. I have some cheap rpk style clamp on. I actually really like it, folds to a low profile against the rail. But I had to replace all the roll pins because they were walking out on their own. Has held up since. Attached File |

I got rid of that horrid carry handle and made mine that is akin to the Colt LMG one. If any one wants the STL model so they can 3D print it just send me a PM with your e-mail (has to handle 150Mb file size). Attached File |

My vision of this concept ideally includes magnification in the optic, like a fixed 2.5-4x, or an LPVO, reason being, for when this weapon is used in the support-by-fire role, a bit farther back from an objective, OR in the defense, that extra magnification would be very useful. |

 Nothing crazy; 20 inch CL hbar, not sure of the brand 12.5 inch quad rail from ORW SA adjustable gas block Toolcraft bcg Standard charging handle with large latch Magpul prs lite Old PA 1-6 and a random dot from the extras bin for now YHM brake and Resonator K GMR super safety I'm having an issue though. Before I built this upper I was using a 12.5 midlength (adjustable gas) upper on the lower, it ran nearly flawlessly. After building this upper, it only works in semi auto, on super safe it is still semi auto. Last time I was at the range, I tried working through gas settings and that did not resolve it, I tried switching BCGs and that did not resolve it, I put a 13.9 upper on the lower and it functioned properly in all three positions. Any advice on next steps to diagnose? Thanks, gents. |
