Please add your personal experience with PMC ammunition to this thread. When you do, please give information about: 1) Ammunition used (Bronze, X-Tac, whatever) 2) Firearm used in 3) Approximate number of rounds fired. No offense to the guys with AR's in other calibers, but we all know that .223 chamberings are the most sensitive. I am trying to solicit only information about your PERSONAL experience with this ammunition. If you haven't used it, then please don't clutter up the thread. Information about proper functioning (or lack thereof) is obviously the most important, but factors such as the accuracy or other peculiarities you've noticed are informative also. If you have had problems with this ammo which were severe enough to cause you to stop using this ammo, then please describe them. And one more minor request: keep your reviews objective. |

Over the years I have put at least 4k thru two Ruger ranch rifles (long gone...) and four AR15s, (Colts, DPMS and Bushmasters). I have never had one problem. The RSA manufactured ammo appeared to be loaded to 223 Remington pressures. The ROK manufactured ammo seemed to have more bark, possibly close to the Korean Military (NATO) ammo I had the chance to score while at Kunson AFB in the early 70's.

Bought 1000 rounds of PMC .223 in about 1999, NEVER had a single problem with it at all. Brass is all brand new and shiny, no crimp problems, no bullet deformations anywhere. Everything packed nicely in 20 round boxes. Would definitely buy again. Be aware that my batch came from awhile back and your mileage may vary in today's batches - standard disclaimer. Turby |
How does one tell the difference between the hotter ROK ammo and the RSA rounds? |
| Sorry the original photo of the boxes is gone. If you look on the rear of the boxes, down in the corner, they will be marked as Product of ROK (Republic of Korea) or RSA (Republic of South Africa). Also, of the two types I've come across, the RSA used a three "stake" primer crimp. while the ROK has used a circular crimp. Both ammo has always shot very well for me, and the brass is excellent for reloading. |

My first AR "came" with a bunch of different ammo - including some PMC FMJ. (I inherited the weapon) Not knowing any better (about price/availibility/quality), when I read on the box "practice/varmint ammo," I just figured it was crap - and blasted through about 500 rds! I sure wish I had it back, now!  Oh! To answer the OP's question - it all fired without a hitch and was dead-on accurate. |

Recently bought 500 rds of 55gr HP PMC from a local Pawn shop that was cleaning house. He said he got it in for a guy who never picked it up and it was just tucked back and forgot about. He thought it was about 6 years old. I have shot about 200 rds and had no problems. I had always heard PMC was dirty, but this stuff doesn't seem to be all that bad. As far as power, I don't have a chrono; but it seems to be on par with any other comercial ammo I have shot, and accuracy seems good from my DPMS 16" upper. |

I always loved this ammo. I never had any issues with it and used it more than any other brass case 55 gr ammo when I went out shooting. It was always on the low end of the price range for brass case .223 and the ROK loaded ammo seemed much closer to M193 specs, rather than commercial specs. I don't remember the exact amount of this ammo I have used, but I am sure it's in the multiple cases, as I have used it since the 1980's (when it was sold under the lablel Pan Metal Corporation) and I think the last I bought was around 2001. It always functioned as reliably as Winchester or Federal IMHO and was pretty accurate. My only complaint about the PMC .223/5.56 is that it's not being brought in now to the best of my knowledge. The PMC-USA company folded a while back and as far as I know, nobody is importing the ROK loaded 5.56 ammo now.

I just got back from the range, shot 220 round of ROK made PMC, no problems what so ever in a 20" AR, 18" AR and 16" AUG. Cases were anealed and primers had red sealant. This was my first time shooting this stuff, looks and shoots like M193 spec to me, and a hell of a deal for what I paid for it. |

In the mid 80's i used thousands of rounds of PMC 5.56. Colt Car 15 Valmet 5.56 AK Leader T2 5.56 Just got back into firearms and see that PMC is a rare find now. It always fired.lots cleaner than the Chicom (norinco) 5.56 during those years. Very hot stuff very accurate 55 gr. I wish it was still around. I would buy it first before other brands, |
Who is selling it again ?. I never understood why they stopped importing it. I've shot it inthe past. My favorite was the .30 carbine in the camo boxes.

I bought 500 rounds at a local funshow and hauled it out to Oklahoma with me at the beginning of July. I fired 220 rounds through my carbine. I had zero malfunctions and the ammo seemed to be great. I didn't shoot for groups, just minute of man at 50 yards in the hot and muggy rain. Here are my rifle's specs: LMT 14.5" M4 Upper with Phantom FH Knight's Armament M4 RAS Stag Lower with RRA LPK Aimpoint ML3 2MOA LaRue Cantilever Mount LMT SOPMOD Stock LaBelle 30rd Magazines That's all the important stuff, anyway. By the way, coming from a Ban State, it was a pleasure to shoot my rifle with standard capacity, detachable magazines. See? Look at that shit-eating grin!

Relieved my local dealer of the last 180 rounds he had "found" camo boxes with Made in Korea in corner. Put 100 rounds in my meager stash,put 80 rounds through my AR today. Fairly accurate,3" groups at 50 yards,not as good as the PP my carbine seems to love but goes bang and finds the target. Hot load,felt the differance from other M193 I've shot. |

1) Rifle: custom using LBC upper/lower with LMT enhanced bolt/carrier group, 18" Krieger barrel (7-7/8) with rifle length gas system, Geissele trigger, etc. 2) 40 rounds fired (lot 223A-0353) All rounds fed, fired, and extracted with zero problems. One and one-half inch groups at 100 yards were no problem shooting off of bipod/10x42 SS scope. I was not excited about shooting 55 grain ammo with my fast barrel but things were OK. If the ammo were cheaper I may consider buying more just for plinking. |

Guns used: 20" CMMG upper on DPMS lower w/ TA31F 500 rds 0 failures Not the best of accuracy, 4"= groups @100 yards 11.5" SBR CMMG barrel on all RRA parts 400 rds 0 Failures No accuracy testing, just close range pumpkin destruction Should work well for 50 yard off hand grapefruit shooting. Hope to find out this weekend. I have another 3500 rds of it, I hope more becomes avaliable soon |

| I had minor problems with some of the PMC I bought back around 2000-2001. When I got my first AR. Dont know the specific date of the ammo but it was the white, red and black boxed ammo, problems were hard primers. My rifle was a Bushmaster 20" A2 Post Ban (yes a post ban). |

I'm assuming you're referring to Wolf Gold, which is brass cased made for Wolf by Prvi Partizan. I'd say both are looked upon about equally and you should be happy with either. I'd shoot either without hesitation. |
| I bought a batch of the .223 55 gr PMC Bronze a while back and can achieve sub MOA groups at 100 yards out of my M4gery with a scope. I fire in 5 shot groups and after two consecutive 5 shot groups, had a spread of only jsut above 3/4". It has never caused a single jam or failure to fire and I would happily buy it again. I just wish that outdoor marksman would have a batch of it again for $300 like they did a few months back. |
| I was given, yes given 10 boxes of PMC red/white box and 12 boxes of PMC Bronze .223 last year. I shot half of each with zero problems. The rest is buried in my stash. |

Agreed. I consistently get 3/4" MOA groups as well with this ammo. I have begun stocking up on cases. Looks like it's about $388 shipped on GunBroker from a few different sellers. |
| I've shot a few hundred rounds of PMC 5.56mm, 55 grain, FMJ, boat-tail ammo through my M4-style AR. No problems. They are surprisingly accurate, very little smoke and flash, and relatively cheap. |
