I was considering one of these Armalite 3 Gun AR-10's for local gas gun matches with targets out to 625. Just wondering if anyone has one, and what kind of accuracy you're getting out of it? I like that it's pretty much competition ready with adjustable gas, decent trigger, brake, etc. As long as it's decently accurate, I should be able to throw on an optic and go. Also thinking about building another Aero, but there 18" uppers are pretty hefty due to the hbar barrel, and most of their stuff is out of stock at the moment. Or maybe a PSA Sabre? That looks like a pretty nice, light build, though I'm not in the market. Not to criticize, but I'd change out a trigger, safety, and grip to fine tune my ergonomics and get a 2 stage in there (purely preference on 2s vs 1s -- not arguing one is better), and I'm not a competitor, not by any stretch of the imagination. I could see a lot of people wanting a different stock, but personally I like the MBA stocks. So, that leaves me wondering, as a competitor do you not have a strong preference on your stock/grip ergonomics and trigger pull/type? Or do you know this lines up with enough with your preferences that off-the-shelf is very close to your preferences? (Honestly, part of my thoughts on that is the price point. I wouldn't spend quite that much if I knew I would be replacing any expensive parts or too many parts, but it if were a little less expensive (a sale), I might.) I truly know little about the competitive shooting world, whether bench or 3-gun, or other. But, if that rifle has all parts YOU WANT, not just ones that CAN DO THE JOB, then I'd say go for it. You like that trigger, you like that stock, the handguard, go for it. That said, I have no idea how good Armalite barrels are (or who makes them if they don't) -- that's the real question that kinda is at the base of it all. Also, have a chuckle at their typo, "...Chambered in 7.62×5 NATO...", when you imagine a case 5 mm long. |
