Darnnit - that damn email shows 77 OTM at $10.99.
Has it really jumped to $12.49 since my first order?

So, what’s the consensus on the 77 OTM vs 77 SMK, so far?  Are people finding that the SMK is worth the extra $3-$3.50/box, or does the OTM seem like the sweet spot?

I think if you are trying to squeeze every possible accuracy out of your gun, then the SMK makes the most sense.  I'd say that the OTMs are probably the best buy for 95% of shooters.

If you are trying to wring out accuracy I’d buy both and see what your guns like the best. Personally, I only buy the otm’s.

Thank you, both!

Definitely not concerned with squeezing out every possible bit of accuracy, as I’m not a competition shooter.  I just want a reliable 75-77gr cartridge with good enough accuracy that I can count on to hit my target if I do my job, correctly (small deer/coyote sized targets at 200-300 yds, not a quarter at 500 yds!).  Oh, and I’d prefer not to pay 75¢-$1/rd, if possible.

Sounds like OTM will be great, for me…I’m definitely in that 95%!

it's weird that the 77gr OTM has been out for a year and I still don't think I've seen any gel tests

there was one set of pics posted in this thread but nothing on youtube where people usually run to do gel tests of a new load

Yup the OTMs, they perform well for me. I usually shoot forward of shoulder and try to stay under 100 yards. I don’t have many not drop in their tracks. I have shot a couple behind the shoulder and both didn’t make it far.  Had a great blood trail on one even though we didn’t need it. He only went about 30 yards. That one we shot at about 150.

YMMV. I don’t get into science and academics of bullets and loads. I just kill shit with them and take notes.

I'm typically only shooting Winchester or Federal 193 (55 gr) for training. But my HD load is 77 TMK or 77 SMK.

The AAC 77 OTM is now cheaper than most bulk M193 from Federal, and Winchester. I'm bulking up on it and will run it during my next carbine course. How it handles in a dirty suppressed carbine with known reliable mags, we shall see.

I've got velocity and accuracy done. The gel will be done at some point this year. I have all the black tip line to do in 5.56. Most of my Patreon $$ goes towards amor testing and I just spent $1.1K on some Highcom armor. So no funds for gel right now.

Alright this here is my 14.5 Super Duty. It's had at least 5k rounds since the last time I did anything to the bore besides run a bore snake with with CLP on it. Today I was re zeroing my optic after installing it on a mount I got off a prize table. Vortex Crossfire, ZRO mount, Vortex 3x Micromag.

I wasn't on paper at first so I sent some singles. Once I got one to hit paper I did some cranking on my knobs and sent a group, pretty half assed shooting, just bussin to see how my cranking went. Then I made another adjustment and sent another group. That's 5 shots at 50 yards.

Did weigh him, but he was heavy. I’d say 200

Can’t remember, but I don’t think that one exited

This one from this weekend didn’t either. He did a back flip and dropped in his tracks . About 90 yards, right under the ear.

The one on the far left in this pic is a little sow. Probably 80-100 lbs. Shot her quartering away. Entered about mid body and came out in front of the shoulder. Not much visible damage for how much blood was on the ground. She made it about 10 yards.

The AAC 110 Vmax has also been impressing me out of an 8.2” blackout. Exit holes has been pretty brutal and they haven’t been moving much.

I’ll try this week. Usually when I’m done I’m thinking about nothing but getting in bed. Messing with a big hog past midnight after you’ve been walking around in the dark all night isn’t fun

I finally shot some myself. It was moa in my first 5 shot group. I was getting 3 moa from 855 and couldn't group anything with 55gr

I'm not a great bench guy so I was pretty impressed that I could even get 5 off under an inch.

Why is it I'm getting baffle strikes "just enough to make a sninny spot" from my 11.5 AR with a 1:7 twist, but same suppressor and ammo on my 16" bolt action with a 1:8 twist it shoots great ?
AAC 77gr OTM..

11.5" should stabilize it just fine as it's like .5"-.6" at 50 yards..

2 different rifles.  Did you check concentricity with an alignment rod?

This. Make sure your muzzle device isn't loose, and that the mount is locking up positively with it, and then check the alignment.

Alignment rods are expensive for what they are, but only about 10% the cost of the supressor on my 11.5.

BTW I was zeroing said 11.5" the other day with this same ammo (same day as my previous post. Getting about 1" groups at 50 yards, optic is a Vortex Crossfire US Optics rebranded Horosun 403 on a 1.93" mount. Barrel is a nitride PSA. Supressor is a RC2.
