So, what you see a page back is proof of concept of a bullpup on the A3 Industries' Triad FM bullpup package working with the BCA upper. (The Triad has the core components, then packages to work with different brands of upper.) The bullpup setup has connection points between the upper and the lower + chassis are the upper lugs / pivot & takedown pins and an m-lok mounted attachment point on bottom of the rail. The Unitah + BCM MCMR should produce identical connection points as a BCA bolt-action upper receiver + BCM MCMR. Because that bullpup chassis uses m-lok rail for the front connection point, any rail with similar width and spacing to the MCMR could be used to do the same thing with the BCA b-a upper. As far as the bolt length, either: 1) cut down the BCA bolt or 2) use the butt stock extension piece in combination with either: 1) a short buffer tube or a cut-down pistol buffer tube with a castle nut in place of the buffer plug or 2) drill it out the buffer plug they give you wide enough to accommodate the bolt's wings Even simpler is the SRU Precision SARB-15. It is a more versatile bullpup setup out of the box, accommodating shortened buffer systems from the get-go (such as the Kentri and DFA MCS). Using that setup, the BCA upper should be a drop in. |

Can confirm. Upper and mag are 6.5 Grendel. Cycles just fine using the stub receiver extension provided with the SARB-15. Not a huge fan of having the scope mounted on the handguard. Anyone shooting theirs? Took both the 10 and 15 out twice this weekend. The 15 got rebarreled again, this time to a 10.5 PSA 1-7 just to accuracy test. It was around 6" with my 77gn match load and around 2" with some 55grn SP loads. Meh. 55grn were clocking in at 2695 so that was neat. The 10 is still wearing a 22" 308 barrel but being used to accuracy test some tightgroup subsonic loads while waiting on it's 16" 308 barrel. I'm pretty excited about this load as it's the first promise any of my subs have shown. With mixed brass and 175 Smk pulls or seconds it'll put 5 in inch and a half ish with 3 or 4 being half inchish. 7.5 grns of tightgroup is giving me 1090fps from the 22" and 1020 from the 16" sfar. The ruger sfar really likes them. Will probably go 7.6 grains in the next load for the BA 16" that's coming. Also tried a couple groups with the 190 subx bullets and 7.5grn TG. They all look like they'll shoot. Attached File Attached File Attached File 20" ba 556 barrel with my 77grn handloads. Attached File |

Many years ago one of the gun writers was explaining that higher prices for guns was more like an insurance policy that it would be more accurate/reliable but that cheaper guns were often capable of the same accuracy/reliability just without the guarantee. Over the years I have seen quite a few less expensive guns that were plenty accurate and reliable. YMMV |

I've spent 3-5k a year at psa for almost 20 years. I bought a complete 16" upper with 15" mlok hg once for $179 just because it was the cheapest I've ever seen. Actually shot well. Inchish at 100. Borescoped it for giggles once when I was cleaning it and found that it had 2 sets of rifling. A deep 1-7 and a shallower slow twist on top. Theres just so many shills on youtube that give people false expectations of rifle capability. Then they complain here that they fed the cheapest ar the cheapest ammo and are getting cheap results. Bear creek can be accurate and if it is be thankful but dont be surprised if that accuracy comes and goes depending on barrel fouling. They can be casually reliable. They are not 1000rnd weekend class reliable. |

Regarding handguards, I actually kept mine on the 5.56 While it is pretty heavy for what it is, I can't flex the damn thing if I tried. I might mount a red dot on the receiver, and one on the handguard just to see how much of a POI change there is between the two. |

And I like the looks of your build. |

They are not 1000rnd weekend class reliable. Very true statement. My most used range toys are cheap builds. I don't care what roll mark anything has. Most of the stuff I have put together consists of an Anderson lower and a BCA upper. They have all worked without issue. If at some point it didn't, I would tinker with it and try to make it work right. Building/ tinkering and messing with stuff is easily better than 50% of the overall enjoyment for me. I don't want to dedicate enough of my budget to run large round counts through any of my stuff except 22LR. I doubt any of my centerfire rifles will see anything beyond a few thousand rounds each (total) so the need for me to have a rifle with a 5-10k round life expectancy is about nonexistent. Since I like to tinker, I have plenty of spare parts should I need to make a repair. Thats not to say I don't shoot, on any given day after work I can grab a few mags, go for a hike on my back 40 put some rounds down my 50-yard rifle range and then wonder back to my house. I have a variety of range plinkers but my current go-to is a BCA dedicated 22LR upper and I enjoy the heck out of. Eats every type of 22LR I put in it. Not the most accurate but I pretty much just ring steel at various short ranges accomplished with a cheap Bushnell red dot on it. My second favorite at the moment is the 7.62x39 BCA bolt action with a Vortex 1-4 on top. In contrast my primary hunting rifle that I actually carry for a purpose is a Howa super lite in 308 topped with a Leupold 3-9. I hike many miles when hunting so the best tool possible in this particular roll for me makes sense. |

Just put a second barrel on the 10 and ordered what'll be the 4th for the 15. I've got the hybrid 46M for a 44mag/450/458 sub gun if I ever get my mind made up on the cartridge. |

I find no pride in buying perfection. I have to tinker and learn the entire system. I hate bca ar15s because people will have me look at their misbehaving rifle and if it's a bca there is no telling where it's out of spec. It's like they lay awake at night thinking of ways to screw up the manufacturing process. One had an out of spec firing pin hole. Rifle would choke at almost exactly 200 round after cleaning and not run after that. It was because that's how many cookie cutter primer disks could fit inside the bolt before it bound up and couldnt rotate. You'd pull the firing pin out of the bolt and they would pour out of there like sand. Had a colt that was doubling come in. The disconnector was stamped weird. Put a psa in it (giggled) and sent it home. |

I finally got my spacers. Damn is this getting smoother. I decided to forego the spring washers. It's debatable that they even keep screws.from loosening, and it's a steel on steel engagement to begin with. Otherwise 3/4" screws were still too long, and 5/8 was a hair too short. Without the washers the screws were perfect imo Curious how the spacers hold up. MJF - Nylon PA12GB - Black Vapor Smoothing looks pretty damn good to me. |

Found that the bolt relocation bracket will definitely work with the bc10. Hardware needed are 10-32 3/4" cap or pan head screws 10-32 3/8" flat head screws 10-32 Nuts. Had to touch the nuts on the belt sander to get them to center on the holes. Then touch the heads so the didnt contact the receiver. 308 got it's new ba 16" barrel and 15" handgaurd Attached File Bc15 is waiting on its 7.5" faxon 300blk barrel Attached File |

If the step down is still there it probably not your issue. The hammer pushes up on the carrier even when cocked so there's some drag there. I polished the bottom of my carrier, the face of my hammer, and anything sticking off the top of the bolt with a scotch brite buffer wheel and polishing wheel. It may just need some oil. |

| Why do you think it's the bolt tail dragging and not another part of the carrier? I ask, because there is a downside: once you start reducing the full-diameter section of the carrier, you'll start increasing the slop in the carrier's movement as that's all bearing surface. (I'm not assuming you're wrong, just trying to understand better.) |
| These are good points maybe it is dragging over the top of the hammer on the way back. Reason I was thinking it was the side of the bcg is because I see a witness mark on the back right side when cycling. I use dry molly lube on the bcg so I can see where the ware is at. Minus the witness mark, the drag could be the hammer I’ll pay more attention. |

Going to have to go at it with a dowel rod and some 1000 grit on the bearing surfaces and bolt handle channel I guess. That looks great through. Could you show what you did to the bolt so it works without the buffer tube? I'm almost convinced to get a 6.5 Grendel for caribou hunting. |

Shot a lot of 308 subsonic today. That was alot of fun. They are stupid accurate. The new Ba barrel did well even though it hadn't been properly broke in. I think itll tighten up more if it gets a few hundred full power loads. Picked up a couple of the fired bullets off the berm and the rifling grooves on them are sharp. Anyway the 308 is damn neat. Fits in a 28" rifle case and full power loads thump with minor recoil. Next up I need to get a scope on it that has precise enough adjustment to adjust poi from subs to supers on the fly and lessen the extractor spring pressure. The pocket sniper is on my S### list. 300blk subs out of a short barrel suck accuracy wise. 4 barrels times 10 loads and nothing does better than 3" and that's usually the best of the day. Ive never seen anyone on the internet achieve decent accuracy with them and now I know why. I'd try some supers but I just dont care about them in that package. Also that strike brace is hell on the shoulder with any recoil. Here's some pics. Attached File Attached File |

Updated bullpup setup. Works pretty darned well. I like having the bolt handle closer to my face. The Amend2 10 round mags feed Grendel very smoothly. ![]() |

Less catching on extraction/retracting the bolt. Cycled it 50 times or so. A more permanent solution may be some type of spring loaded pin on the left wing? Short bolt so far.... https://imgpond.novarata.net/uploads/2025/07/bca9.jpg Does yours catch when running ammo through it? Mine catches when cycling the action empty, but it doesn't with a loaded mag and ammo in it. Works best when I cycle the bolt with a purpose if you will. Also 7.62x39. I did not do any of the porting or polishing. The more I run cheap steel cased ammo through it the better it seems to get. |

That's interesting, thanks for posting it. Took it out again today, seemed smoother with the taped tail. Had difficulty extracting some brass cases. They were stuck a bit. Maybe that was the issue I had, stuck case, not bolt carrier issue? Russian 196 grain subsonic ammo is running about 1100 fps. Not really subsonic. Loaded some 220 grain bullets. Had good accuracy, but the powder I used was too slow burning and loud. |
Any of you guys cut your Bolt Carrier with a hack saw? ![]() I don't really trust my self with power tools unless I cut a bit longer than I am planning. Most modifications I do with hand tools/files honestly. Just the hardness of this steel concerns me a bit. I have a left over FM-15 Picatinny thing. It also has a Delrin buffer which is giving me ideas... Delrin bolt stop for the BCA bolt? Basically just cut it enough to work with this type of lower. Attached File |
