Shot nearly 4moa, but the ES was sexy! |

If shooting within 100y is what most people do, then who cares if its 1 or 2 moa? Those following this thread- Its a proven, match grade projectile that I've posted lots of results on in previous threads. I've hit 7/10 off the magazine on an 18" gong at 700 with my 12.5. |
| Accuracy doesnt matter too much when the benefit is the additional terminal velocity in a realistic range of less than 150 yards on a short gun. This is great performance. You want to be accurate, you can still shoot brass. I shoot 77g AAC in comps and 77g MK262 for matches that really count for prizes. I wouldnt mind having this badlands for defense loads in the house gun. |

But what the bullet is or isn't or how fast its going or not means nothing if it doesn't hit what you're shooting it at. I mean I've shot rifles that had impressive bullets that were key holing at 10yds, by your standards, that would still be great. The OP started this thread by, really, bringing up two experiences with ammo- the impressive velocities and banging steel at 700yds with it. The second is.......... highlighting it's accuracy. You brought up a third concern and that is terminal ballistics. Yes it's great that you have higher velocities with, in this case, the 77 SMK. But there are ENDLESS threads arguing about whether the SMK is even a good SD bullet and somewhat separately if driving a SD bullet too fast is a concern. (Meaning if a bullet is driven too fast, which causes it to fragment too quickly and you lose penetration). |
