https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FODsQaaJXJA I saw 110 SASS's video on it, and it's got me wondering. He's showing that you can get a decent amount of extra FPS even in shorter barrel lengths to the point where you can have competing ballistics out of a 11.5" compared to a 14.5" with standard PMC bronze. My question is... Do we care? |

| I run the Shellshock Nas3 cases in 300aac and they work well but only about 1 in 4 are reloadable. The cases do not resize properly even with carbide dies. That being said, I regularly push 125 grain projectiles to 2400fps and 168 grainers to 2200. No pressure signs. I do use a an H3 buffer and flst wire spring along with an adjustible.gas block. In my bolt action I push them SUBSTANTIALLY faster |

I think need is an interesting discussion, and it may be caliber dependent. From a handgun perspective, I have zero want or need for +p+p+p+p+p 9mm ammo or .380 ammo. From a rifle perspective, I don't shoot a lot of long distance, nor do I shoot much 5.56....but, the 77gr TMK, 70gr Barnes and/or 80.5gr Berger's do interest me a bit. Not so much because I need them, but because they extend the range of 5.56 without me having to invest much in a new caliber, mags or bolts. If $75 (that includes shipping) can get me 50 rounds of NAS3 77gr TMK to tryout out and have on tap, it might be worth it. 300blk is different story since it is a powder/velocity starved cartridge to begin with (at least with a lot of supers). |

I've read on another forum that they are a PITA to reload... don't size or have the expected neck tension due to spring-back issues... Also consider, just because the case can handle higher pressures, can the barrel and bolt? and how are you gonna measure it and determine when to stop? IMO these are a fad that will fade away (except for very specific use) in a while. If you need more speed- get a bigger cartridge. |

There's a thread about reloading the rifle brass here in the reloading section. It seems the rifle cases can't easily be sized. The force required to extract a case from the sizing die may pull the rim off. |
