So I Am working on a little bolt action project and thought it would be fun to build a little folder bolt action (We have a Q-fix at home, honey  ) - I was surprised to see the 10.5'' .50 Beowulf upper I ordered had a 7.62x39 Bolt.I checked the website and this is correct. So my question is - why? My other .50 Beowulf build uses a standard 5.56 bolt. The rim of the .50 Beowulf is the same diameter of 5.56 - correct? So in theory - could I use that same bolt, if I decided to re-barrel it to 300blk? I'm wussing out on the Beowulf a bit - there isn't much lock-up on these uppers - it doesn't take much to open the bolt... and I kind of cut the back of the carrier off to make it into a folder.  What is the advantage to using the larger diameter bolt for .50 Beowulf? |

Rim diameter on a .50 Beowulf is .445" which is the same size as 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel. .223 is .378" |

| So are you building a bolt action Beowulf? I thought about rebarreling a Ruger American but opinions vary on whether it will feed as is and I am not smart or skilled enough to mod them. What action chassis and stock you doing? |

I'm doing an AR build using one of the Bear Creek bolt action upper receivers. I wanted to make a folder like a Q Fix or Sig Cross - so I figured the bolt carrier didn't need to be that long... After lopping it off and my buddy Mark doing an awesome profiling job, it seems to be the perfect length for operation. I haven't tested it at the range yet though. Waiting on a Form 1 so I can throw it on this PSA Poop Flinging Gremlin lower I had kicking around.
