If you have your heart set on metal, H&K's are probably the best, but is the juice worth the squeeze is the question.

 Nor mine…

With the Okay mags gone D&H will become the new standard. PSA has them for $9.99.

The SHK mags are great for the money. Okay and D&H are the standard for aluminum mags.

I'd take D&H over any Okay made in the last 5 or so years.

The older Okay mags were reliable, though.

I’ve got quite a bit of use on the new Okays with the raised bumps and blue followers. They’ve worked just as well as the older style.

I just wish the SHK weren’t that satin finish.

I put some magpul followers and ranger plates on them though and they’re great mags.

I agree but it doesn't bother me all that to do something about. Easiest thing to do would be hit them with some krylon....

That is why the U.S. Military stopped procuring them.

This is gospel.

I would rather have any new condition GI mag made to spec than a currently laser welding D&H mag. I wish they would go back to the fixturing they used and spot welding like was on the older mags. Maybe some of the new contract mags will show up for sale.

What issues are you seeing with the laser welded D&H mags?

Okay mags.   Okay are the same as Colt and MHMTG magazines.     Older Black Teflon D&H mags some of which are marked Bushmaster, PSA, or BCM.

KCI mags are inexpensive for a reason.   They function correctly, but I doubt they will last as long as a GI mag.

D&H just got a GI contract. They were the only bidder, apparently. Again, what are the problems with the laser-welded D&H mags? Not trying to be a jackass. I am genuinely curious.

If my "metal" you mean steel (not aluminum) the Beretta AR mags had an excellent reputation but for some reason you can't get them anymore. I handled one once; they were beautiful.

I have some of the FN Scar16 mags and while expensive (I got some recently for I think $28 each) they are aesthetically pleasing, a unique design, and have been 100% reliable in my limited use so far.

They have metal followers also made like the ones CMMG sold individually for a while.

Not even sure if I have used any of the ones I bought. They probably work just fine. I don't like how the ones I have bought body measures at some locations even when compared to their old ones is why I would rather have the old ones.
Not sure why some think the metal looks thinner. It has always been the same thickness as other GI mags.

You had me worried for a minute. I just bought 10, and loaded them the other day and put them in rotation. If they are anything like the spot-weled ones, they should be fine. They drop free and lock back fine. Thanks.

My understanding is Brownells is making them in house.
