And how will your suggested upper replicate that of a Colt-offered rifle:
I have: A1 Forward assist upper C7 upper A2 upper. It will go on one of my SBR lowers, but could end up with a rifle lower. I already have an 11.5" Commando flat top and an 11.5" charging handle upper-type carbine. |

I concur, pick a C7. The C7 is more suitable than an A2 for a short barreled build. The rear sight is simpler, yet you have a forward assist.
